Parents: you find out your kid is being bullied on at school, what do you do?

Curious. Also what do you do if you find out your kid was in a fight at school, he didn’t start it, but he stood his ground and fought back?

Say good job but also teach him bullying as defined is not bullying. There’s a difference
What I teach my students you can defend yourself but once you go on offense then you’ve crossed the line

I tell him/her to kick them in the balls.
If he got in a fight its part of growing up. Don't start shite, won't be no shite. Hopefully they beat the shite out of the bully and he thinks twice about doing it again. Luckily the school my kids go to doesn't tolerate BS. They don't have to worry about fighting or bullying. The teachers would end that shite quick. Of course there isn't much if any trash at their school.

enroll the kid in Martial arts. He will learn how to defend himself and in the process he should become more self confident. A self confident kid is less likely to be bullied.

I wished I worked at a Private School. The way the Brothers at SSC settled bullying and fights between boarders was the best. Gave them the gloves and let them go until one had advantage. Then punished both. But it settled it

Go to the kids house, bring my son. Tell the bully first my son is going to beat him, then I will beat him. Gonna be a good ole fashion father son beat off.

Had an instance when I was a kid where this POS kept flicking the back of my ear. Teacher never saw and if I said anything, nothing happened. Of course when I decide to hit back when I had enough, that's when the teacher happens to turn around and I'm the one who got in trouble.

Depends on the kind of bullying. If it’s old-school playground pushing and shoving, I’ll tell him he’s allowed to fight back in self-defense. If that leads to getting suspended I’ll have his back. But if I find out he’s the instigator and has been misleading me there will be consequences that make a suspension seem like a vacation.
If it’s the new school cyber bullying? Kids these days are dumb and put way too much in writing via Instagram comments, snapchat messages, etc. I get a thorough record of what’s been written and request a meeting with the principal and the parents/guardians of the other kids. I tell them they can figure out a way to end it or I can. They probably won’t like the means by which I would end it—it involves the cyber bullying statutes that exist in most states.
