Planned and had a daughter first. Second daughter was unplanned. 3rd daughter was planned. Twin daughters made #'s 4 and 5 and they didn't care what anyone had planned. Life with 5 daughters was totally crazy the first couple of years after the twins were born.

Now the oldest is married. The second is in college and the 3rd one and the twins are all in high school. Have had some unbelievable memories and wouldn't trade any of it- but it's been quite the life.

I have no children, but a female friend once told me "Three kids are SO many more than two!".

Just had #2 3 months ago

2 weeks in the hospital on oxygen with RSV and pneumonia, countless trips to specialist doctors with GI issues, etc, etc

I will not be going for round 3

ETA: Both girls

Our third was/is difficult but that's mostly because we had twins first and he was only 18 months behind. Wouldnt trade it for the world though

We had a boy and a girl and stopped.

With three or more kids you have to make the switch from man to man to zone.

We knew our limits.

Have 3 and 2 is MUCH easier. But 3 is more fun.

Our first two just about killed us! 5 years later the wife was ready for a third...worked out great.

Glad we didn't stop. My wife and I both came from 3 sibling households and the birth order was girl, girl, boy in all three cases - ours, hers, and mine. If we would have stopped @ 2, so would have the birthline.

I have a non-scientific theory that there are a lot of families with three daughters (which may or may not be true), and the reason for that is that every man wants to have at least one son. They have their first kid, girl, let's have another. Second kid is another girl. So they're willing to take one last shot to get a boy, and when they get another girl, they stop because the family is just getting too big and that was the last gamble.

Nailed it. That's me.

Absolutely. 3rd is by far the easiest. And I had two girls first and got the boy on the third try.

I think it's a combo of knowing exactly what to do from experience with the first two, and having two little ones eager to "help" with the baby.

My mother wanted to quit after two, but dad wanted a third.

That third child is psycho and has pretty much made their "golden" years fricking miserable.

I know two families with 3 boys each who would say this is true for the opposite sex as well. Moms really wanted that baby girl but eventually they had to stop trying.

I can't even imagine not having our third child. She's our family mascot and beloved by all. Easily the cutest, too. She'd win the family vote for most beloved. Her siblings adore her. She's beena blessing every day of our lives.

When you go from two to three, you go from the man to man defense to the zone defense. That's the only difference. Do it !

For some reason, your post reminds me about a Walt Garrison quote about Cowboys coach Tom Landry.

Somebody asked Walt, does Landry ever smile?

Walt says, "Well, he has three kids, I guess he's smiled at least three times."

Having more than 2 kids seems more like 'management' rather than parenting. I have a boy and a girl. Life seems perfect but I always wonder what a third would be like. I grew up in 3 but not sure I want a third. My dad seemed stressed a lot but it might have been him.
