Soccer is cheap for little kids, but once they get older and play on select and club teams it gets pricey. If they want the best equipment, a good set of cleats will set you back at least $200 (the latest Nikes and Adidas are around $500 now)...plus you need shin guards and a ball...then club dues and tournament fees...then uniforms etc. Just like any other sport I guess...but cleats are the most expensive item. I used to go through a pair a year.

ETA: And summer camps can get pricey too. I used to go to Clemson each year...obviously not everyone does that, but soccer parents do tend to get carried away

I know a lot of travel teams do fundraisers for the kids now days to help with cost. Seems every sport actually has some sort of fund raiser though

true. I could see equestrian if the cost of the horse is factored in. Baseball is practically year round now also.

Cheerleading cost me a ton that's all I know. Between travel and other cost I'm sure it cost me around 10-12K a year.

Almost all sports are year round it seems...
My cousin plays football/baseball and he had to choose one because the baseball is now year round thanks to travel team he is on. Football also has summer camps and a spring league now.

Equestrian
And the rest are not even close.

Gymnastics = depends on devotion, but fees/travel

Hockey = expensive equipment (especially as they grow into new sizes) and the travel costs may add up.

Travel baseball = should be inlcuded. Can get to be super expensive.

Cycling = bikes, travel

Soccer = travel only
Football = paid for by school

Cheerleading = lulz

I play hockey.
I see this list as hockey

everything else.

in addition to all of the pads and skates and sticks that break regularly everytime you play or practice you have to buy ice time.

we spend alot during football...but i buy my kids their own pads instead of using the shitty rec ones...but unis, gloves, mouthpeices, chinstraps, cleats, socks, etc. adds up...i have a kid in travel baseball as well and he catches...that shite is ridiculous...

My son is in Football and Baseball, and my daughter is in Softball.

I do the same with the pads - but by far, Baseball and Softball are the biggest $$$ drains. My daughter catches, and catching lessons alone are $40 a week.

The pitchers on her team spend $100 a week (and they are 11). This, in addition to the hotels, gate fees, etc...

I have no idea on cost. I can say I hate parents who believe (and tell you repeatedly) their kid is the best ball player the league has seen and will probably play college ball. Or the....our daughter is so pretty, she will probably model when she get older....she will be like 5'10".

The main cost in cheerleading is the travel. I know this year we will be in Florida twice Destin and Orlando along with Dallas and Houston. Also 3 trips to NO for weekend competitions along with BR and Slidell.

Private coaching
Monthly fees
Competition fees
Camp fees
Fee fees.

Believe me I'd have a nice vacation home somewhere if it wasn't for all of this.

Anything having to do with a daughter is way more expensive if you ask me.
