Looking at websites and prices for children's activities came up... wow

They list:
Hockey
Soccer
Cycling
Gymnastics
Equestrian
Cheerleading

Another site list:
Hockey
Football
Equestrian
Skiing
Gymnastics

I always thought baseball was one of the more expensive sports based on gloves, uniforms, cleats, bats, balls, etc.

When you start talking about the almost year round travel teams, it's definitely baseball.

I know a lot of travel teams do fundraisers for the kids now days to help with cost. Seems every sport actually has some sort of fund raiser though

I would think all of these sports, at the higher junior levels, require a good bit of travel.

Equestrian and Golf have to be at the top. Green fees and memberships are pretty pricey.

Tennis is expensive as shite of we aren't just talking about playing for a school

If you want to actually be good at tennis that takes lessons year around, tennis camps yea around. When I played in highschool I had 3 hour long lessons a week at 60 a pop and then went to a camp in the summer and winter times that was expensive

Then add in travel cost to travel to tournaments every weekend, it gets kinda expensive

Reasoning on Soccer:
quote:

While the type of team will vary by age level, location and desire to compete, soccer has the potential to drain a parent's wallet for years. According to mom blogger Jessica Gottlieb, even "modest soccer" has its fees. While the regular season may cost no more than $30 a month and the cost of equipment (shin guards, cleats and sunscreen), the travel season is another story.

Cycling:
quote:

Riding a bike as a sport has one obviously large expense: the bike. New bikes can start at around $500 and the price rises with the level of features and the brand that you wish to purchase. Serious cyclers can spend thousands on a bike, and cycling shoes, helmets and clothing will run an additional hundred dollars or more. Each race will require a fee, usually $15 to $30, but the transportation to the race costs extra. This sport, which used to be considered obscure, is growing in popularity, but events can still be spaced thousands of miles apart and require much time and effort to get attend.
