The couple, who are Mennonites, believe their daughter’s death was the will of God. They recently appeared in an interview with antivaccine nonprofit Children’s Health Defense to talk about their daughter’s death.
“Don’t do the shots,” the girl’s mother said.
She added that measles “isn’t as bad as they’re making it out to be.” The woman said her four other children recovered from the disease after receiving alternative treatments, including cod liver oil and vitamin A, which doctors say have no effect on measles.

“The measles are good for the body,” the girl’s father said, adding that the disease boosts the immune system and wards against cancer, an untrue claim repeated by antivaccine groups and most recently by Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

Good point. Everyone knows 5 kids is too many. Cut the weak ones out early.

Look I respect their right to practice their religion, but come on God gave us a brain. Just feel bad for that little girl who died unnecessarily.

Makes as much sense as any tard suggesting their deity is responsible for anything else.

How is it God's will that their little girl died?
Someone explain that to me?

So being brainwashed by stupid people cost them their daughter. Awful parents.

The family has suffered enough. Why some want to harass people of faith, I’ll never understand.

This is more a warning sign for people other than this family, to not frick up like this family did (in the name of faith)

Believing in magic is a double edged sword. If you believe it can help you achieve paradise for eternity, then you have to be willing to accept that the same magic can cause you unimaginable misery.
And the trick is to get you to accept that bargain.

Well at a basic level, if God exists and is all powerful, then either this is in his will or he just doesn't care about anything that happens to us.
Pick your faith poison in all of that.

I'm not anti religion and I believe in God.
I just don't understand why they would think it is God's will.

Since this family is Mennonite, there isn’t much that the broader society can take away from this situation.

They've chosen to live in a Mennonite faith Which is their right God given right to live faith as you see fit and the constitution enforces thatand in doing so they live a very simple life
perhaps akin to 100 years in the past
Where losing children was not that big of a deal they're farmers people of the Earth they see death every day .

Because their faith cost a little girl her life from something easily preventable.

Not to derail the thread but has this really been proven untrue? Seems like a timeline of measles outbreaks tailing off would correspond to an uptick in cancer rates.
That could be correlation without causation but seeing as we have no fricking clue what causes individual cancers, how can they make the claim that it is false?

Well im not God...so that would be difficult

While I respect people should have personal choice when it comes things.
I truly feel bad for children of parents like this. This whole anti vaccination movement is a low point in this country.

Pure and simple…someone told them to. That’s the only reason anyone does something for solely religious reasons.

I don't think many posters ITT are Mennonite but we're all discussing it
