I'm reading the cars license plate was covered . If this was random I don't know why that would be.

Maybe the voices told him to. This doesn't sound like a targeted hit to me. It sounds more like a nut of some kind. If so, somebody will have an idea who he is.

Kinda of like Koeburger? You might be right . Coincidences seem to pile up about this couple going from Cal to Montana to Ark. The Idaho victims didn't have coincidences.

I've been to this park many times as have many of the members of this forum and its not a place a wacko would go to make a totally random killing

That’s kind of what whackos do. Randomly kill people.

fricks sake. My kids are 8 and 9. Wife wonders why I act the way I do when my kids are around.

I assume the cops have tried to answer these questions:

When mom ran with the kids, where did she leave the kids? Car? Visitor center?

Did she speak with anyone before going back? What did she tell them?

It was 100 degrees out, I doubt she locked them in the car.

If she left the kids with people and she knew anything about the crazy guy, maybe she told someone who it was.

People on the run tend not to update their locations and activities on Facebook

Hiking, bike riding; always.

This is ridiculous. You can be a victim of violent crime when you are doing anything, sleeping, eating at a restaurant, anything. I've been hiking for well over a decade, about 15 to 20 times per year, and I've never packed a weapon besides bear spray occasionally.

It's possible I could be victimized one day, but the same is true of going to the grocery store in old Metairie. The point is, a zillion people hike a gazillion miles every year and very seldom does anything like this happen.

Some really obscure moving around...you may be right.

Pro tip: if you are running from somebody, don’t post on Facebook your obscure locations you keep moving to.

You're right. I didn't notice that. It's still ridiculous, just for a different reason.

Both of you should have the unfettered right to choose your load out.

Feel free to go defenseless and shut your trap about what anybody else chooses to do.

Like the guy in Michigan? They haven't said it, but the guy looked like a homeless schizo in the video of them detaining him. Drugs probably involved as well.

Went to Colorado on a solo hiking trip in early May last summer and my biggest concern was pulling up to trailheads with one or zero vehicles parked there. I'm sure it's just me living so close to Memphis but it always makes me uneasy. Headed to Wyoming on Friday to see that state for the first time and do a bunch of hiking. I worry about not having a firearm with me. If someone tries to rob us I'll try to bear mace their arse. That's the best defense I'll have. I hate it for those poor kids and hope they catch the person or persons quickly.

So the mom took the kids to the ranger station after seeing her husband get stabbed and then went back....alone?

That's so odd as to almost defy belief.
