re: Parents: how much did/do you budget for your toddler's birthday parties?

It’s a toddler dude. For all of ours my wife made a cake and we hung a few decorations. We had some family over and a couple of little friends. Everybody ate and had a drink or two and the kids played. 600 is insanity.

Must be the mommie bloggers telling your wives it’s a child’s right to do it big for your kids birthday party and it’s abuse if you don’t.

Like my wife would stick to a budget for those.

You can't put a price on Little Timmy's happiness. There is no spending limit. Get the bounce house, petting zoo, clowns all of it.

Depends how much the party planner’s fess are?

I always budget around $100-150, which doesn't include presents. What do we actually spend after my wife adds a bunch of unnecessary things? Probably closer to $250.
Start rant...Since when did you have to start giving presents to kids that attended anyways? It's not their bday party so why TF should they get anything. Such a crock of shite...end rant

You are getting off easy. Mine likes to throw $1500 parties for our young girls.

I looked to see if one of those kids was me. HA Ha

Sounds like an expensive way for her to get social media points from the inevitable party photo uploads.

I’ll be honest, we just don’t invite other kids. I think this year we will let my older one bring one friend over. We like to do a quick bday, get it over with. I have kids that are in their 20s now also and they still come over all the time and at least seem to be happy and enjoy our company so we didn’t mess them up too bad

It includes $150 for a bouncy house which we really don't need.
Spend the extra $50 and buy this blow up water slide. Ours has lasted 2 years so far and has been a life saver in the summer.

That isn't a budget, that is a wishlist. Get a cookie cake from sams. while you're there pick up some appetizers like pizza rolls, cheese sticks, and a case or 2 of beer. If you really want to do food go with hotdogs and hamburgers but it seems like no one ever eats. All of that will be way less than $460.

Did my little girls 5th Bday party at the Urban Air Adventure Park in Denham for about 500. Kids all had a blast and no clean up.

Just spent about $400 last week on a party. Was at a location that does parties that the kids enjoyed. Do not enjoy cleaning up after little shits, so no parties at the house any longer.

The first party we did for our oldest this same rant emanated from me. I still don’t have a satisfactory answer other than social emulation.

Imagine being so poor that $600 is considered an absurd amount of money to spend on your child.

My daughter's 5yo party last year ran me about $1K. Food, invites, venue, mimosas for moms, party favors and a fricking pony.

We did a trampoline park this past year for my 4 y/o. Everybody had fun (only 2 hospital visits and 1 broken leg) and I think it was like $400 for everything.

Do yourself and your kid a favor. Remove the pedestal.

That could easily be me in that pic
