Parents: how much did/do you budget for your toddler's birthday parties?

My son is turning three, and my wife sent me a budget of $610 which I rolled at. It includes $150 for a bouncy house which we really don't need. The rest was for food, cupcakes, decorations, cake, and party favors. Am I right that it's way too much, or is that the norm these days?

One pack of hot dogs (sans bun)
One gallon of purple drink
One bag of store brand potato chips

I don’t have any input, but this is an oddly specific number.

you don't need to budget, just put it on a credit card.

Can you defer some of that to the 4th and 5th yr party?

Why do you not want the best for your kid? What did they do to make you hate them?

You may as well spend $500 at a bouncy gym and not have to clean shite up and pretend you’re happy all these people are at your house

Spent a lot more this year since they sort of missed out on b-day parties last year. They deserve a nice party since last year sucked so bad.

I plan to spend a lot of money on my kids. Give them a good life

Take them to McDonalds.....happy meals are cheap and the fun house is free

They’re fricking three. Why is anyone doing more than some cake and ice cream with a handful of decorations with a handful of family/friends?
This shite is almost as insufferable as huge gender reveal parties or push gifts and whatever other material bullshite people have come up with to blow their money on.

That's about right. Bounce house is worth every penny. We did giant waterslide. Keeps all the kids entertained so you can entertain the mom's. Also, your firstborn son? They're 3, they finally know what a birthday is regardless if they'll remember it. Mine looked forward to it for a month and still talks about. Well worth it in my opinion if you can afford.

Just ask everybody to chip in when you're checking their vaccination status.

I don't have kids but I'm pretty sure I would pay more than $610 to not have to attend any of this shite

Well technically you really don't need a birthday party. But if you're going to have one there better be a goddamn bouncy house.

My youngest is 11 and we spent about $100 on gifts, bought pizza, and made a cake. Maybe $200 altogether

My grandson turns 3 this weekend. His party will consist of immediate family getting together with a homemade cake and some ice cream. I spent around $50 on his gift.
