Cal won an SEC Tourney title this season, while Pope took a pretty early exit again. Well, technically not an early exit for a team that has to start on day 1 of the league tournament. Nevertheless, Pope exited the tourney the same day Cal started the tourney.

That’s a stretch. They never won a title. They only won two SWC titles in that frame. They didn’t win another SWC title until Arkansas left the league in 1992.

Hogs went from 2000-2007 without a tourney win. This also falls into the shittiest basketball hires Arkansas has made with Heath and Pelphrey. Pelphrey did win one tournament game with Heaths roster his first season.

Today’s win was win #27 on the season. 7th highest win total in program history. Program last won 28 games in a season in 2021-22 season (28-9). That team lost in the Elite Eight.

The last team to finish with 27 wins, was 2014-15 season. Mike Anderson’s group lost in the second round to UNC 87-78.

Looking ahead…

Every season Arkansas has reached at least 28 wins, it has made the Elite Eight.

We were not going to be in Duke or Florida's bracket as a 4 seed. The committee had Alabama ahead of us so they got the Midwest 4 spot. So at that point it left only one location for us to be, and that is Portland and Arizona's West Bracket.

Committee always tries to avoid rematches within the top 4 seeds. Arkansas has played Duke and Florida already this season, so scratch those two regions. That left being paired with Arizona's bracket or Michigan's bracket being the 4 seed. The committee then had Alabama as a higher 4 seed than Arkansas, so that left Arkansas traveling to Portland and put Alabama in the MidWest bracket with Michigan.

While it seems unfair, it was really the only option.

It doesn’t matter. It’s our programs 8th conference tournament title…it’s not banner worthy. But if you’re playing a game, the idea is to win it.

My opinion is this team should be a 3 seed. This is the strongest league in the nation according to the metrics…and if they use metrics, seeding for NCAAt should be as follows…

1 - Florida
3 - Arkansas
4 - Alabama
4 - Vandy

I havent been here to post much but its really been under my skin that Vandy has been consistently seeded higher than us in Lunardi's bracket each update. We have a head to head win over them and their schedule strength is lower than ours by 8 spots.

They have 10 Q1 wins, which is 3 more than us. In those wins are games against Wake Forest, VCU, UCF, & Saint Mary's. Not exactly a murderer row.
