How bad could the schools possibly be in their area...

Gas up their car for them. Show them how to use Waze.

Sounds like you need to take some time to concentrate on getting to know yourself.

She actually went to a pretty decent public school in La, but the AP classes here and pipeline to better colleges were important.

She wants to get into Stanford or UDub, they sent recruiters here.

Stage of life. you both have to deal with it, its tough. but if it wasn't happening, something would be wrong. Visit him and make the most of it. Always prepare them for their next stages and prepare yourself for your next stages.

My oldest daughter moved to Nashville from LA. Much better opportunities and she is happy. All you can ask for really.

While true, the counselors in LA were pushing LSU strictly because of TOPS.

Plus there are more AP classes here for her.

True... wasn't always this way... now LSU wants the top 3 students from every accredited Louisiana high school on campus... honestly probably should be this way

My first one left the house this year. Just college but it’s 10+ hours away. There have been days when I thought I’d relish kids being out of the house but so far it’s no bueno. When the others leave in a few years I’m not sure I’ll know what to do with myself.

My daughter moved to Billings, Montana 3 years ago. She’s very happy there and that’s all that matters. Plus I have a free place to stay when I go vacationing.

Facetime is a blessing too.

I don’t know why people are giving you a hard time. I think it’s sweet that you’re so close to your son.

My son is only 11 so I have no wisdom to offer.

Trying to figure this out myself now that mine is in college. When they were younger though I did have about 4 years where I lived somewhere different. I just found a way. I called every night. Made sure at work they knew I had them coming in to town when they could. I just made it work. I ended up moving back though after 4 years. Could not take it anymore. I did it want to miss out on life events.
