My kid struck out looking in cabbage ball last season once.
I say once because after the arse chewing I gave him on the car ride home that boy swung and connected on every damn pitch from then on.

Coaches Pitch = No Cheering on strike outs
what if it was a game ending strike out that sealed victory for the opposition? is there a timeline of seconds we have to wait before claps can ensue for the victory team?

OP said coach pitch. Its much different if a kid strikes another kid out. In that case you are cheering FOR the pitcher not against the batter. When coach's are pitching, you are literally cheering because little timmy isn't coordinated.

are we able to cheer for a walk when a 9 year old watches 4 pitches 8 feet away from the zone?
So insensitive,
I guess I'm an a-hole for cheering at my daughter's volley ball game when her team got a point because the girl on the other team couldn't serve it anywhere close to getting over the net.
And I should fight the parents that cheered when my daughter's serves didn't make it over too.

yea that is stupid, i have been to a lot of coach pitch games and never seen any parents cheering after a kid strikes out nor a coach. might yell how many outs but never celebrate.
Same here. I have seen a few of the parents give the coach shite in a joking manner, but no out right celebrating. Even watched a game where the coach was responsible for 12 of the first 15 outs of the game. Had a few runs scored, but that coach was mowing them down.

i already brought up service errors in this thread.
and when the opposing pitcher throws a horrible ball not close to the zone, i always like to yell to my batter "GOOD EYE"

Coach pitch really should be pitching machine
We only had pitching machine when I played that age.
What happens in coach pitch when there’s a grounder right back at the pitcher? Does dad/coach have a glove?

We have a "pitcher" that lines up to the side of the coach depending on which side the batter is hitting from.

What’s the point of coach pitch as opposed to a pitching machine generally?
Seems like a trend but my kids are old enough to be there yet. Seems like the machines have been eliminated entirely from youth ball though.

There is a kid playing “pitcher” but occasionally the coach pitcher will get hit. Different leagues have different rules in thar scenario. In competitive Coach Pitch leagues, you have to throw from at least 40’ away.

I always give a “Way to throw it past him coach”.

Maybe their son is the coach? You ever think of that?

I wondered that as well. Asked at one of my nephew's games and the response I had was not all of the ballparks have pitching machines. I said, but this isn't a travel league, you play the same 5 teams all season. then got a
FYI, at this park they use the pitching machines in 2 of their batting cages

what exactly is coach pitch?
is it exactly what it sounds like? the coach is pitching to the kid player?
why?
if youre cheering for an adult striking a kid out youre a fricking loser.

teaching the kid to see the ball coming out of a throwing/pitching motion.

yea i mean i have picked on the coach....you know like "slow down nolan ryan" or something stupid like that just trying to get people to laugh but never seen a kid made fun of

Who said anything about making fun of a kid? Maybe we should outlaw cheering at youth sporting events

Seems like it would be far more advantageous to get them used to the ball coming at them generally rather than break them in with the ball coming from a 6 foot tall adult---something they won't see again until high school in most cases.
