I think as long as it's both way I am ok.

If you going to praise one of the young men/women you should encourage the other in the same way or just clap.

Capping is fine.

If it’s my own son I laugh at him and call him a loser

Eta: Then he goes on to explain how bad his genetics are

There’s no kids doing anything good in this instance. They are cheering because a kid struck out.

Trashy? Normal? Alls fair in competition?

It’s beyond trashy to cheer an 8 year old striking out in coach pitch. Those parents should be expelled from the park for 8 years. I get no participation trophy mentality, but that’s beyond fricked up

In 10u and now 12u, as a coach, I encourage my pitchers after striking a kid out…not “cheering for the kid struck out.” Can understand a parent clapping for a strikeout in kid pitch, but keep it respectful

hy wouldn't a parent cheer when their kid strikes someone out?

A coach is pitching not an opposing teams player

They didn't do anything good, some little kid struck out from his own coach pitching to him. The opposing team stood around the field.

I wouldn't cheer that. I wouldn't get mad if some other parent did though. Lots of nutjobs out there watching their nutjob kids play sports.

Its taken me years to get over the participation thing but I can admit I was irresponsible for taking that approach.

yea that is stupid, i have been to a lot of coach pitch games and never seen any parents cheering after a kid strikes out nor a coach. might yell how many outs but never celebrate.

It's coach's pitch dipshit. The opposing coach doesn't pitch against the other team's kids. The coach of that team pitches to his own kids. Be more trashy.

What makes you think I needed an explanation on how coach pitch works?
