If the high school team takes a bus, say two hours away, to compete...is it a given that most parents won’t show up to watch?

Guessing it’s a range issue. Just across the bridge, you go watch...driving up to Jackson, eff all that.

Depend on sport and/or position?

Went to all of my kids games. Most were 2 hours or less when away.

Miss it now.

My parents refused to step foot inside Madison Square garden. For other reasons altogether.

Sure, if your parents don't love you.

Depends on how much I like the sport. I really like baseball so I’ll drive a good ways to watch my son play. If he decides to take up soccer I’m not going unless it’s 5 minutes away and in an indoor climate controlled facility with high speed wifi so I can watch real sports on my phone.

seeing your kid get action once every 45 minutes vs constant action

yeah...solid logic

We try to have at least one of us at all of them, but sometimes it's just not possible. As long as they see the effort and you make it to some, the kids don't really care.

Is there anything more important than your kids games?

The only time I ever missed my sons games was when they were freshman and no ZERO chance of getting into the game.

I think care more than they show but the effort is appreciated.

I hope you're talking about a hypothetical son, because I'd feel very bad for him if his dad couldn't be bothered to learn about and share an interest he could be passionate about with him.

I’ll probably go to every football game, most soccer games...but this weekend he’s running a leg of 4x400 in the state track meet. I see some of the other parents are going, but I assume their kids are upperclassmen. Mine’s in 8th and it’s 53 seconds of running.

I don't think my parents came to my T&F meets either

probably because it was so much standing around and then like 50 seconds of action

so I guess I understand that logic

My mom made it to 80% of games, but work conflicts and distance made some of them impossible. My dads job kept him from many weeknight games.

Truthfully, I didn’t give a frick if they were ever there. I played sports for myself.

I hope you are going to go. He might not get back there again...
