Mines 17 and apparently it’s still hilarious.

I'd be more worried if your 8yo gets embarrassed from farting

I think for me it was 13-18 (around girls only). My boys are younger than that so we'll see. As of now farts are the funniest thing on God's green earth for us.

I introduced the guys to the game turtle last night and I couldn't get them to settle down for bed because they were chasing each other around with a blanket and an arse full of gas. Mom was so pissed and I couldn't stop laughing. Borderline core family memory. Thank you, farts.

Successfully farting on a friend or sibling's friend is a close second

My kids are tweens and think fart jokes and toilet humor are the funniest thing ever.

We play mad Libs and it's 70% scatalogical humor

This thread got me thinking...were farts the start of humor? I mean, it had to start somewhere.

Way back when we were still banging rocks together, talking Quest For Fire stuff...

Oog sitting around the fire with Bork and Ugga. All serious, eating raw meat, ogling the Raquel Welch in across the firepit, let’s call her Booba
.

And then all of sudden Oog lets thunder from down below rip. That sound is timeless, the flubbing of cheeks, maybe even a little squeak at the end.

Ugga and Bork stop eating and look over...Oog looks around like a dog surprised at his own fart...then the smell hits.

That rancid odor, all that raw meat and plants, noses rankling involuntarily. Booba smells it and fans her hand in front of her face.

And then it happens...the first laugh. That unstoppable belly laugh from deep down. Watching Ugga and Bork push back from the smell of a now laughing Oog, they fall clumsily on their log, Bork’s foot goes into the fire, he pulls it out and is hopping around on one foot blowing at it, then Booba starts to laugh, holding her sides in.

And SHE farts. And fart humor is born.

Crazy to think that we’ve been laughing at the same thing as the Egyptians, the Persians, the Romans, the Vikings.

But why?

Not embarrassed, only wistful:

As the Bard said, “Farting is such sweet sorry.”

If there's something funnier than a fart, by all means point it out.

I was amazed to see how much farting appears in cartoons my granddaughter (4) watches (PinkFong). She's completely desensitized to it, she doesn't even grin or chuckle. It doesn't seem to be a bad influence on her, she doesn't go around ripping any. Maybe she's just not a very gassy child, but with my genetic contribution, I fail to see how that's possible.

Boys: never get embarassed by their farts, but are embarassed by Dad's farts 13-18

Girls: always embarassed
