There are plenty of programs in the North Baton Rouge area. It would definitely be a great learning experience

Tennis camp at Bocage was legit af as a kid.

I'm not in LA so can't offer you specific suggestions but highly recommend a camp where he goes off on his own.

I never had experience with camps...parents never even offered to send me away. As a dad, I came across a Groupon for 1/2 price summer camp here in GA (Camp Blue Ridge). Of course, after the first year it was full price, which was a motherfricker......BUT, my baby girl has gone several years and has built up great friendships over the years. It's like the highlight of her year to go to camp. They do so many fun things, do things to build relationships, amazing staff...just a really good investment for your child to learn the importance of independence.


TL;DR Don't do a day camp...send the kid away for a couple/few weeks. He'll love it.

We’ve done a few years at Dunham School camp and one year at Parkview summer camp. My son enjoyed Dunham more because he had more fun. I preferred Dunham more because Parkview is a shite show run by high school seniors.

Send him to Avery Island and put the little bastard to work picking Tabasco peppers.

He won't have to bend over like all the others and nimble little fingers pick faster.

ETA: Nevermind. The harvest is in the fall and the plants are like 4-5 feet tall. Looks like you're stuck with him.

6 year olds need to play. Find something physically oriented and fun for him.

There are plenty of 6-8 weeks summer camps in Texas.

Send him to one of those and your summer at the Prop Stop, is secure.
