My stepson had a turbo WRX 5-speed and that thing was a blast to drive. I'd own one.

As a man trapped in a woman's body I resent your stereotyping of gay women and Subaru's

While many flannel wearing, robust, same sex ladies may drive Outbacks, it does not extend to ALL lesbians and ALL Subaru motor vehicles.

My 79 year old uncle bought a Subaru, and when my dad told me that I asked when he became a middle aged lesbian. Uncle had no idea of the stereotype

If you have had success with yoga's, look into the Mazda line. They have a few nice mid sized SUV's and if you're in icy conditions, the CX50 or CX70 are more geared to off road suspension and traction.

Wife has a co-worker looking for a car. They are having a conversation about what cars she was interested in. Early 70's co-worker comes up and says why don't you get a Subaru, XXXX has one and XXXX has one. They look like good cars. They both told him it was a Lesbian brand. He said but the other two co-workers have them, then he said;"OOhh" no wonder they are always eating together.

I am on my second Outback and have had zero issues with either.

First was totaled in a wreck (not my fault) where I was hit by a Dodge Ram going 50 MPH while I was at a complete stop. I walked away without a scratch.

Second is a Wilderness with a little extra clearance which makes navigating the backcountry a little easier.

It also helps me stay undercover here in Colorado.

I had a Subaru 4 cylinder as a rental last fall and it was extremely slow and unimpressive. All I got.

currently drive an 11 year old Outback with 185k miles. That generation had a notorious oil leak that set me back a few thousand to resolve but outside of that it has been general maintenance. It really has been a great car for my personal needs. It has gotten a little tight with a baby seat in the back but would not hesitate to buy another one, although i'm really a huge fan of the new generation design. Looks aside, I trust it would have the same continued reliability.

we go to Seattle relatively often(nephew and his wife are in the Navy,) and Subaru is the state car of Washington so every rental we get is a Subaru SUV, got to admit they're nice little cars, don't like the lane nudger but I think you can disable that

Some models have head gasket issues, others have CVTs, which is the same Jatco CVT that Nissan uses, but Subaru seems to do a better job of protecting them with their powertrain calibrations. Still, you want one where the fluid has seen regular changes if a CVT model. It will probably not be a 200k mile transmission.

OP, have you considered a Ford Escape hybrid? That powertrain is essentially as much Toyota as Ford, and they gave very good service in the taxi world. Resale will not command the Toyota premium on the used ones.
