Eh, there’s lots of reasons healthcare is so expensive, this is certainly one of them but there are plenty reasons on the supply side that deserve more criticism than this.
Another topic for another day I suppose…but the entire existence of health insurance in its current form is the barrier preventing any measure of bringing costs down.

I'm not sure why people think you need to develop an eating disorder to be healthy

Right. Going on some BS fad diet almost certainly ensures you’ll fail. It starts with small changes and being consistent.

People want the easy way out instead of addressing the root cause of why they're overeating. Personally I wouldn't touch any synthetic weight loss supplements with a 10-foot pole. That stuff is unnatural and can't be good for you long term.

What's the evidence that it's unnatural? It's a supplement that puts synthetic hormones in your body to suppress hunger and affects your blood sugar, insulin production, and pancreas.
The only case I could see using it is extreme obesity where the danger of the person's weight is so great that it outweighs the potential side effects. Dropping 30 pounds with shots instead of going to the gym and changing your diet is ludicrous.

You’re not a food addict

I think there is a medical need for the stuff, but obviously not for everyone who is abusing it.
For example, somebody who has been working out 3x a week with strength training and HIIT cardio, and eating a balanced diet with a 300 calorie deficit for 5 months and has lost only 2 lbs…yeah something chemical within the body has got to be wrong there.
I could see a GLP1 helping someone like that

but instead of society calling it what it is and focusing on root cause solutions, the food and pharmaceutical industries keep driving it for financial gain.
I mean it’s not like healthcare providers don’t encourage healthy eating and natural weight loss. They’ve been unsuccessful for decades.
Most Americans simply can’t / won’t do it.
So, surgery and meds become the lesser of two evils, in essence.
Ozempic is likely healthier than being 400 lbs.

This drug was made to help people with high a1c blood levels, get it under control and help live a longer life with diabetes.
Taking high doses to lose weight, because you are a lazy frick was not the intent, you fricked around and found out.
When keeping it real goes wrong
