100% Landry deserves a lot of credit for this. It is also nice that Troop Nola has caused a decrease in the driving stunt bullshite. I cannot tell you the last time I heard drag racing on Claiborne at 2 AM. They also aren't doing burnout doughnuts on Canal street anymore.

I promise the people who are depopulating NOLA are not the ones responsible for the previously high levels of murders, nor is it the normal victims.

and if you actually read the "study" it was complete bullshite

bottom line is attempted murder, stabbings, shootings are all down big time. stop trying to play it off

Got raked over the coals after NYE attack because of the barricade issue, but other than that, mostly positive.

Made three trips to NOLA last year and each time I noticed that downtown / FQ looked materially better than in the 2021 time frame. Cops walking about and less roving bands of “youths” looking for reparations.

Kirkpatrick gets a lot of flack here but she has really done a good improving morale at NOPD and dealing with the consent decree.

Troop NOLA has made a huge impact here though, I don’t think anyone can deny that.

Yep. The trend was well on its way down before Landry was even elected.

New methods of working with the Feds and better morale goes a long way. Troop NOLA keeping the criminals out of the DAs reach helps too.

Plenty of kudos to go around

the new Police Chief & Troop Nola have been game changers

Yup, I know Kirkpatrick didn’t look the best in the aftermath of the terror attack, but she’s doing a lot of good work on the administrative side of NOPD that doesn’t get the recognition it should.

Troop Nola was, IMO, the best thing Landry has done as Gov.. He at least tried something whereas JBE ignored the Nola crime entirely.

Which is a great thing for New Orleans and the state overall. Why people feel the need to tear down their neighbors is beyond me. I think it's a big reason why we will continue to fail as a state.

People who don't live in them don't want New Orleans or Baton Rouge to be good, attractive cities.

100%

i mean look at every other thread on here is someone upset about how their neighbor or friend spent money. pure jealousy thing.

but its not just this state, its all over. Its because of social media and feelings of inadequacies but across the nation everyone is looking to tear down anyone else they can, especially if they deem the person to be more successful than they are.

the feds have been kicking in doors on a regular basis for a couple years, iirc

Things started to change, at least it felt like, when I started seeing those videos on a weekly basis

This can’t be said or emphasized enough. IDK if this is a Louisiana thing, or something other states experience, too. I’ve never seen residents shite on their own state’s cities, and outright root for them to fail, like I see Louisiana residents do.

One thing I'll definitely credit Landry with.

Louisiana is basically going to have to protect Nola from its own dumbass voter base. Landry gets it. The city has made noticeable strides since Landry was elected as someone who lives in the area.

You also have to have a DA who wants to pursue criminals.

Also, there has been a lot of stat doctoring lately, so I don't really trust numbers coming out of New Orleans.

That was probably one of the largest contributors. Troop NOLA seems to be doing more policing type work and less of the going after embedded crime. Seeing ATF and DEA rolling every couple weeks at 7am makes a difference.
