No it doesn't. Best case scenario is that it turns into a big warehouse or distribution center.
But who would want to set up shop in the ghetto with an employee base that is, at absolute best, mediocre?

Would never happen, but the best use of the Cortana property would be to raze the mall and everything around it and build a dog track. That would be a catalyst.

It has nothin to do with her color or her sex. It has everything to do with her poor decisions surrounding her staffing, her economic vision, and her beliefs on law enforcement.
If Bodie(sp?) White had made the same move regarding he closure of a Sam’s Club and hoping to revitalize a mall that has been dying/dead for over a decade he would have caught the same shite.

Let them walk down the street to Walmart and open up some more registers

The issue is that CATS doesn't go to alot of the other wal-marts or Sams clubs. That's how alot of those people got to work.
Unfortunate really, there aren't that many jobs for that size of a workforce in that area.

Bon Marche at least turned into usable space even though it took a decade or more. I just can't see a developer doing the same with Cortana since I don't think BC has ever been fully occupied.

I’ve been to that Sams. None of the employees I interacted with, during the 2 hour wait while they fixed my tires, seemed to give a rats arse about customers nor their store.

if she does, I am definitely going there once.

We’ve had a good 26 year run in LC. Willie Mount, Randy Roach, and now Nic Hunter.

Not familiar with Baton Rouge’s mayor, but I fail to see what clueless about her comment alone. Any small town mayor in the country would say something similar.

Our goal is to ensure that all 176 displaced employees are either transferred to nearby Sam's Clubs or Walmarts or are assisted with job placement and/or training
She really is clueless.

See: Unifirst, crescent crown distributing, Carquest distribution center, Orion Instruments all built from ground up within the last 6-7 years. One of the top charter schools in the country, IDEA is building off N. Airway Dr. right now. Not as sexy as retail, but at least they are new and well maintained.
The Cortana area is actually in a much better position than some of the vacant malls around the US because EBR has run out of large tracts of land near major hwys and interstates. Good chance that all the vacant land around the mall will be built up within 10-15 years. that Sam's building is new. I imagine it will get bought and used as a distribution center or industrial manufacturing center as well.

When you believe a dog track would be an improvement for your city, it’s time to throw in the towel.

Walmart/Sam’s article clearly stated they were attempting to relocate employees to other locations. Broome is acting like she is spearheading it. Dumb bitch

She's not a small town mayor. EBR has nearly 450k people living there.

I can’t even tell you our mayor’s name. To me, that may be the most proof there is for why this is absolutely the greatest place in LA. Hell,.....the galaxy.

I see nothing wrong here

nobody is stupid enough to stick their business in north Baton Rouge.
The Asian quick stops, the Pawn Shops, the Cash For Gold shops, the Custom Tires & Rims shops, the Gun & Ammo shops and the LE Tax Collectors are doing great business there.
Like Too Short said, "There's $ in tha hood!".
