I've become a Nazi

Same here. The NFL or NBA doesn't interest me much, I haven't watched baseball or hockey in years. I follow college basketball and football, that's about it.
As far as after 40 attitude goes, I tend to be quicker to tell people to frick off nowadays.

You let go of most of the petty shite that bothers people. Way more relaxed.

That’s an understatement

I find myself less worked up about stuff. Maybe a bit more patient in life. More family focused also.

I converted “give a fricks” into more intense sarcasm, it’s worked the last 9 years,,,highly recommend

40’s didn’t really phase me much. 50’s have absolutely turned me upside down in both positive and negative ways.

Exactly as you noted sir!

I don't care what other people think about me much anymore.

How did you do it? Any pointers? I'm in my 40's and tied one on pretty epically last night.

Care less about what others think (I still care, just less). I don’t get nearly as worked up about sports. Working on better health (stopped drinking) and financial habits (more emphasis on investing and less waste of money on frivolous things). Hoping to be more emotionally involved with family and friends, but that is evolving slowly. Still way too much focus on work, which I will regret in 10-12 years.

Same. Stupid petty crap that used to get under my skin just doesn’t. I look at it as their problem vs mine.

I’m only a few weeks in and I haven’t noticed a difference

Don't sweat the small stuff.

Don’t pet the sweaty stuff, either.

I’m a few months in and I definitely can feel the change.

Small stuff doesn’t bother me as much. Also a new ache or pain will appear and I realize it’s not going to get any better so learn to live with it.

I dont have any magic answer, i think everyone is different.. for me - when it comes to the drinking part- i guess i was blessed/cursed that i simply couldn’t handle the hangovers anymore.. i’ve heard people say that there comes a tipping point where the fun you have while drinking just isnt worth the pain you feel the next day... or in my case, for the next 2 or 3 days.. For me that point has come relatively recently, in my early/mid 40s.
Ive never been to an AA meeting, but i know that they always try to visualize the next day when they are weighing whether or not to drink.. and if you can substitute the unhealthy thing with something healthy - like planning to get up early the next morning to go to the gym, or take a run, that helps... Honestly though, i would do whatever it took, even if it meant going to an AA meeting, in order to get off that stuff and give myself a chance to extend my life, and my quality of life, a little bit.
I’m not gonna lie though, i care what other people think .. and for whatever reason, some people have a problems with *others* not drinking.. if that’s the case, you might have to find new friends, or find support elsewhere.. in my experience it’s worth it though, because i’m starting to see the drinking really catch up to a lot of those people my age and a little older, and in a couple of cases, serious liver issues and death... i’ll do whatever i can to try and avoid that.
