Yes, I wear a lot of LL Bean

I’m confused, is LL Bean an old man thing? I dont own any (#humblebrag) but always thought it was a college kid/fraternity thing?

It was a middle aged man thing way before. Kind of like the hipsters wearing Carhartt.

For me 50 was more significant than 40

Is that really a thing? I know i’m over 40 then, because i’m way behind...

When i think of Carhartt, i think of that Kevin Costner show Yellowstone, or the clothes you find at a store that sells cowboy boots... then again, i guess that’s kind of the appeal for hipsters.

I've definitely seen it. LL Bean is pretty similar to Orvis. Outdoors type clothes that hipsters wear, but they've been popular for years with older people.

We love that show Yellowstone. I'd retire tomorrow to some rural area in Montana if I could.

True dat. Could not give a fuk about what others think of me. very concerned about the future for my children and theirs.

Realize everyone will always act in their own self interest. And that our government is the most corrupt in the world.

Less inclined to suffer fools.

More focused on accomplishing things.

I agree. Except I decided it was time to move out of mid management and go for the top, only to find out those people were chosen in their 20s and early 30s. Always a day late.

I've had at least one piece of LL Bean apparel in my closet since the mid eighties when I was 13, even when all I wore was black or grey. Duck shoes were popular for awhile for some. As I've gotten older I've collected the ROYGBIV of their polo shirts. I can't tell you if it's an old man thing, but it ain't the cutting edge...and I don't care.

Just hit 60. At forty started focusing more on work. At fifty realized I worked too much. Now still working, but on my terms. Oh yeah, also realized old men don't fight with a knife anymore. We will just pull out a gun and shoot you. Also, don't pity da fools.

It was popular in the 80s and 90s before certain brands outdoor wear became some sort of fratty status symbol.

40’s and 50’s were pretty good. I’m slowing down a bit these days and I’m forgetting things.

Can’t complain really even so. Learned to appreciate more what I have.

This.

Plus I don’t like sports as much as I used to for some weird reason. I used to be a die hard football fan and followed recruiting. Try to make an away game every year and now I don’t care as much at all. Same with NFL, MLB and NBA.

Anyone else kind of less interested in sports as you’ve become older?

Agree on both.

I'm 35 and have noticed this significant change.

I used to be overly concerned about what people thought of me until my late twenties. A healthy dose of that is good in order to fuel you in your personal and professional life by way of general situational awareness, but it can get unhealthy quickly and easily. Getting into my thirties matured me on a natural way, and having children cured me of giving a shite what other people think about me. I have my priorities in line, and my wife and kids' opinions of me are the only one I care about.

My interest in sports also went way down by my late twenties. The weekend of college football season and New Year's Day used to be my two favorite times of the year, and I was obsessed with college football. I also followed the NFL and MLB very closely. Fast forward to 35 and my interest in sports has waned tremendously. Again, that goes to having a wife and kids and other priorities.
