OT recommendations for some boots

I have to buy a pair of cowboy boots for a country wedding I'm standing in. I've never owned a pair of boots, but figured getting a pair for semi-dressy (out to dinner/sport coat type dressy) occasions wouldn't be bad. I haven't seen a boot thread in a while. What's the OT's recommendations? I figured something in the $250-$400 range. Animal hide, polish-able leather, toe shape, heel type, brands, what do you got?

Keeping it simple without trying to make a statement, black Justin Roper's.

I'd probably wear them 10-12 times a year, but they would last forever if I took care of them. I have a pair of Doc Martens that are easily 25 years old and still in great shape.

Couples can have some ridiculous expectations for their bridal parties.

get some tecovas, they are decent and look nice. run a little narrow.
Don't get ropers if they are for a wedding, unless the wedding attire is jeans and a button down.

No different than paying $175 for a rented tux. At least I get to keep these

Get some nice leather ropers. Lower heel, more rounded toe, and I think a much nicer looking boot than traditional cowboy boots. Luchesse is a good brand to look at in your price range.
