Cool nvm he’s expressjet out of IAH. Probably one of the more senior dudes. Runs several crashpads there too lol.

Hiring at the majors now is a crapshoot

largely because of the flow through set up, classes are typically 1/2 flow through, 1/2 mil, doesn't mean it's Impossible

big motors but incredibly efficient given the payloads it can accommodate, pretty much obsolesced the 767
Just looked up fuel flows for it. Does about 15,500 lbs/hr sound about right?

I know right now my Army buddies who are RTP for Envoy are waiting 1-2 years for Coast, but I haven’t heard if throughput is increased now San Marcos opened up. After IOE they sit reserve for another 2 years.

No thanks.

long gone are the days of having your buddy walk your resume in and hooking you up.
So this doesn't happen anymore?

That's how most of my buds got on with the majors, and how I got hired by the carrier I flew for years ago.

depends on how heavy you are, if you left Maui for DFW, pretty light for a 777, you'd probably see around 7500/side after you level off, maybe a little less

What do you mean by "coast"? East or West coast base?

Yeah, the figure I read was for total per hour I assumed. Those engines are amazing.

Like the circumference of an E145 fuselage.

fuel isn't a huge priority with the bug smashers right now, not sure what the point is

Point being that SkyWest has a much higher operational reliability threshold than Mesa. From the point of the mainline carrier, it factors into the capacity purchase agreement rates they negotiate. Hence why SkyWest is flying a lot of the LAX, ORD, SFO routes heavily weighted towards business passengers, while Mesa is flying IAH-CAE, etc.

To a potential pilot it doesn't mean nearly as much... except that you may be more apt to divert from a hold or take a delay for mechanical.

dynamic industry baw, lots of folks on here don't seem to want to project down the road a bit, but that sort of reinforces my point(s,) people that say frick it, I ain't trying anymore opens up the door for a younger, maybe less qualified guy that, until that point was thinking "shite! wonder when I'll get a chance?"

ETA: the airline has to fill training slots with who's qualified, willing, and available

Damn, they're taking 1-2 years to do a rotor to fixed wing transition?

Hell you can fit a 737/757 fuselage inside of the GE90 on a 777.

They were waiting that long just to start training about a year ago for San Diego. They recently opened up San Marcos so I’m not sure if that’s reduced the backlog or what the wait is now.

I'll have to find the article I read a week or so ago, but was talking about military rotor pilots doing a conversion course in San Diego maybe, but was a 6-9 month program for less than the $20,000 bonus PSA was offering.

Yeah I was talking simply about the wait to even start! Once In it goes quickly. I know maybe 1-2 that went PSA, but the majority are funneling to Envoy.

SkyWest is offering up to $27,500 in reimbursements to rotorheads for transition training.

by comparison, prior to adding winglets, on the same leg a 767-300 would initially be burning about 8500/side, winglets dropped that down about 2000/hr./side init. burn
