If you have an ATP I would consider Atlas before a regional. International, big jet experience on a resume is good. 600 hours PIC may get you a look at AA or Delta. I would get recency and then blast apps everywhere. Definitely go to job fairs and join WIA, OBAP, or NGPA

I'm here to tell you baws, and I've been in pilot recruitment before, after you meet the mins they couldn't give a shite what else is on the resume unless it comes down to a tie breaker, they ain't impressed, demand is super high right now and the one guarantee is that if you don't throw your hat in the ring you ain't getting hired

Didn't know there was even such an organization.

I'm not gay, but I'll join if it helps me get on with a major.

Whichever one has flowthrough to a major would be my pick.

I know several folks at companies with a flow through and I wouldn’t recommend it right now. Demand is too high to be sitting on a list waiting to flow.

if you meet the mins required, go for the brass ring, it's not mandatory that you go through the regionals, and I would avoid the flow through with the demand being what it is, put yourself out there and let the airline decide, believe me, once you meet the minimums they don't care if you been flying the space shuttle(and we have a couple of former shuttle guys,) or a Beech 18, and we have some of those and everything in between
Well most majors require 1000 hrs PIC Part 121 before they'll consider you, so that's my next objective.

Who do you fly for?

if you meet the FAA requirements you should have an app in and let the airline decide, don't know how I can state it more clearly, demand is at its peak and seniority means everything

I know a ton of guys who have recently gone to majors without a lick of 121 PIC time. Some of them didn’t even have any jet time.

It will cost about as much as a private college education to go from student to ATP.
They have accelerated programs all over the country and they have they have universities that have flight schools. (I think LA tech has one, there is one new flight school at a university in Louisiana, the most popular was in the Dakotas IIRC)

When I was getting my PP almost every other student was Indian. At the time their airlines were booming. They were saying it was cheaper in America and easier to get loans.
I found that odd.
I only went to PP with them and went much slower. They did Instrument in the regular Cessna, then Comercial, then switched to a twin engine Piper for ATP. Somewhere in there they had to pick up flight instructor ratings too.
Then they went off to Florida or Texas for type training.

All in they were saying $150-200k.
This was 2009.

Not cheap, but people pay $40k for beauty school all the time.

Yeah, like I said that info is a little dated. I can’t imagine too much has changed though. The wheels were falling off of the place when I was there.

This may have previously been the case, but it definitely isn’t anymore. I know tons of people hired with little to no turbine PIC. I’d say your only disadvantage is recency of experience.

She's not like that anymore. 777 brought out the worst in her and took advantage of it.
