I agree with this, but it doesn’t hurt to have it in your back pocket.

Couple years ago, 777Tiger was talking about all the good times he used to have in Lafayette and the chicks he bagged. He was talking about one in particular that was a dancer or fitness instructor somewhere that he used to beat the pussy up, and I had him convinced that was my older sister.

but it slows you down with the airline that you've agreed to get on the flow through list though, basically takes that airline off the table for now

Not necessarily. AA WOs do get hired outside the flow.

Who are you with?

Yeah, even if I go to one with flow, I'm not counting on that shite.

It's those cute little pilot pants you all wear... no room for humility

Really hurts your chances of getting an interview at that major. Not impossible, but very difficult.

I’d get 100 hours of recency wherever you can get it and see what happens.

Envoy or CommutAir have the flow agreements with CommutAir being a quicker move to United then Envoy to American. Envoy’s flow will take you 6-8 years to get to American and if you upgrade quickly keep in mind you will spend a couple years commuting to reserve in New York. Envoys recruiters will promise a 2-4 year flow but if you look at the numbers that’s not going to happen. CommutAir would be a brutal commute to IAD or Newark.

Sleeper pick would be xjet with the IAH base and the CPP program, you won’t upgrade probably ever but it would be an easy commute for a revitalized company. I left there in 2015 when they were going downhill but I still have friends there and they are all on the way out the door to United within the next 6 months. My other pick would be endeavor but honestly the preferential interview with delta isn’t a guaranteed flow.

I fly corporate, if I were you I’d take a look at some jobs in the local area. Pay is better then the regionals and all you need is currency and an updated airline apps profile and I would imagine you’ll be quite competitive for the majors.

That’s not accurate at all anymore. Finally got sold by SkyWest and start flying 175s for United in April. Hiring is ramping up and they’re throwing major incentives to pick up on days off. No chance a reserve is getting unused these days. Likely flying min guarantee at worst every month.

getting there quicker than that now, only thing impeding a faster move up is training facilities are over capacity

doesn't much matter as long as you throw your hat in the ring with the majors and again, I would not enter into a flow through contract right now, that would retard your progress as well, I believe some of these sign on bonuses come with some sort of contractual commitment too, would look carefully at that

Agreed, just get current and get the app in. OP’s times are very competitive for the majors or LCCs. The sign-on bonuses are typically 2 year agreements.

I figured it had changed one way or the other with the sell off. Just saw APC has xjt at just over 1100 total pilots . It was over 3k when I left IIRC. I was on the ASA side and there was a lot of doom and gloom there at the time. Overall good company with a lot of good baws/bawettes. Glad it has worked out some.

it's hard to light a fire under an arse that doesn't want to be lit, don't know how many conversations I've had with guys over the years about how to get on with the majors, all the while I'm with a major, and have heard things like "I need to do this before I apply," or I've heard this....," I just gave up trying to convince people to apply and let the airline decide for themselves because no one seems to listen, don't mind sharing a little info on here but it seems to be met with similar responses

I wouldn’t consider anyone else besides maybe Endeavor or Republic.

Coincidentally, the two highest paying regionals and both have classes filled for the rest of the year.
