Milwaukee, Dewalt, Rigid in that order.

Once you use a Milwaukee you'll feel like a fool for using anything else. Best hammer drill and impact drill out there.

I see Porter Cable offers a 20 volt drill but i haven't ever used that brand.

I have several Porter Cable tools, both corded and cordless, and they have been great. My circular saw, reciprocating saw, and table saw are all Porter Cable and are all 20+ years old and still work like brand new.

Upgraded from my old arse Dewalt 14.4 volt to this a couple of years ago and I couldn't be happier. Thing is a beast.

Then it still doesn't matter. Watch a few Matthias Wadel videos on youtube. Dude has the biggest POS drill I've seen and he makes part of his living building stuff on youtube.

From what I've read, getting new batteries through the warranty is a major PITA

I have a set of Rigids and they have served me well. They warrant the batteries too.

Go with the DeWalt 20v brushless if you can comfortably spend the money. You won't regret it.

A few things:

1. There is no such thing as a dewalt "20 volt". It's marketing meant to fool the average american who doesn't know any better. It's 18 volt just like makita and Milwaukee. In fact, they can't even call it 20 volt in Europe because of truth in advertising laws.

2. Think of amp hours as the size of the gas tank and have nothing to do with power.

3. Makita was the first to have brushless tools.

4. Makita was the first to have lithium ion batteries. They also have the lowest return rate on tools out of the big 4 (Dewalt, Milwaukee, Makita, Bosch)and now have a 3 year warranty on tools batteries and chargers. They are also coming out with a 6.0 Ah battery in February.

5. Makita also makes the most powerful hand drill on the market if you need raw power. XPH07

6. Makita batteries also charge in half the time of any other 18V battery on the market.

Obviously I'm a Makita fan and biased but all of the above is still true.

I'll repeat myself from earlier posts on this same topic: I am a retail build out superintendent and travel all over the country. The vast majority of battery tools on these jobs are Makita, followed by Dewalt. After that Milwaukee with very few Ridgid. No Bosch. These are tools that are used constantly mostly by drywall framers. When it comes to corded tools, for heavy work its Hilti, followed by Milwaukee. Nothing will beat a Hilti hammer drill.

Have you ever used a makita hammer drill? They will drill as fast or faster than hilti and cost about half as much. They're just not known for their hammers.

i'm wondering if it's the physical size of the tools that make them chose Makita oer the rest. Makita does seem to run quite a bit smaller than the others.

Festool is the best of the best. All their tools are the finest made and the prices reflect that. I went through a number of cordless drills then I spent the money for a Festool.

Yep. You're right bro. Don't even know why i bother. The OP specifically said looking for a high ah lithium drill with brushless motor and here you have a page full of people posting the drills they bought and none of them meet the criteria posted in the op.

just about any question i've ever asked on TD people will respond to critique the questions itself rather than answer, and when people answer they neglect any requirements/specs in the original question

these days TD is only good for entertainment value

Looks like you're trying to find a high end set. Fyi, home Depot has $150 off if you buy certain driver combos and another tool.

I just got the dewalt xr driver combo and a circular saw for less than the original cost of the set.
