I doubt you would notice the difference between the 4 ah rigid battery and a 5 ah. You mention that your batteries are what fails. Rigid has the lifetime batteries.

Truthfully, it was a gift years ago, but it's still working great. I've added on several other tools in the same line and never had an issue with any of them.

I like Milwaukee battery-powered tools the most. The 12v stuff is the bee's knees because it's so light, but so is the 18v stuff because of the power
That is not a specific drill or driver, that's just my favorite company for those reasons

In that order. That goes for pretty much all cordless tools. IMHO I'll add. Been using exclusively Rigid for about 5 years now and everything I have bought still runs like new after heavy use.

I've never used Makita. No reason why other than no one I know has ever had one. My dad was a Dewalt guy and grandfather swears by Milwaukee. We've all swapped to Rigid now. I can't see a difference in quality and the battery warranty sold me on them.

Last year I bought myself a of Milwaukee v12 driver and drill. My FIL in law used and wanted a set this Christmas. I bought him a set of Ridgid because they didn't have the same deal going on this year for the Milwaukee. The US hardly and difference in the Milwaukee and Ridgid.
One of my coworkers had a Ridgid 14.4 volt drill and circular saw. Ridgid quit making the batteries. They told him to ship the drill to him and they would send him a new one. They send him an 18 volt drill and circular saw.

Milwaukee and Ridgid power tools are made by the same company, TTI. They also make Ryobi and a high percentage of Craftsman power tools.

For home use it doesn't much matter what you buy as long as it is a name brand, unless your hobby is carpentry.
