That's awesome! Gotta be a great feeling. You gotta frame the ball.

I played every day for many a year. Hit a lot of good shots. Still have to be lucky. The par four one was late in the day. Wasn't even a pin in the hole. Now that is lucky.

Prefer my double-eagle over the hole-in-one.

Wow, odds of a double-eagle (or albatross) where you ace a par 4 or make a 2 on a par 5 have been estimated to be over a million to one. A hole in one on a par 3 is estimated to be about 13000 to one for the average golfer.

My ace came at Dumas about 10 years ago, I backed an 8 iron into the hole from about 130 with a balata ball. The perfect swing, never felt the ball come off the club, any it was the first time I played with a new set of Titlest DCI clubs.

My high school teammate was playing in their club championship about 2 or 3 years after HS went into 18 (par 5) down 1. Hit driver 3 iron in for a double eagle in front of a ton of people to win by one. The guy he was playing with had a 1 shot lead going into 18 and lost making a birdie

Didn't really think about it that way. Can't believe I aced a par four and made a 2 on a par five. I wonder what the odds of that happening would be?

Only made 1 but lucky it was right time. Won Mustang convertible . Kids too little for that so took cash. Always pulled for Hal Sutton but that Sunday I won more on golf course than he did.

Closest I came to a hole in one was actually on a par 4. Plays about 289 over water. Hit driver, stuck it on the green about a foot from the hole. Easy eagle though.

I love telling this story. I've got two on the same hole, but only one counted. Par 3 #6 at Willowdale in Luling. First time I was in high school. Chunked my first shot in the water. Reteed and holed it.

Second time, I think 7 years later. Hit it right past the hole, bit, and backed in. Funny thing was I was playing with my brother and a good friend of ours both times.

Closest I have come was at Old Waverly about a month or two ago.

155 yard, 8 iron. Baby draw, big hop and rolled 3 inches short of the cup.

I aced the 4th hole at Selman Field in Monroe in 2000. Playing with 3 strangers. 8 iron from 150. Don't think I have been closer than 3ft since.

I played golf competively for 12 years and never had one.

Finally, my first and only hole in one came while I was in Fredricksburg, TX for a wedding. I went out to drink and shoot the shite with the other bridesmaid's husbands/boyfriends at the Lady Bird Johnson muni track. We were all hammered by the 13th hole. It was playing 135, I knocked a PW a couple feet past the hole and it spun back in. I was so drunk I finished my round with the hole in one ball. Luckily I didn't lose it.

It just shows how much luck is involved that my one and only hole in one came when I was so drunk I would have just been happy to hit the green.

The closest I've come is hiting the pin after one bounce.

10 years and counting.

Congrats

Got one on Number 9 at the old Holiday City in Olive Branch, MS. Man, I miss that golf course. Left handed duck hook going over the water headed straight for the clubhouse which got straightened out by the wind sends the ball right back to the green rolling straight into the cup. Got a green acrylic "Number 1" with a hole in it in which to put the ball and my name in the paper.

Had one on 17 at Shell Landing. 176 yards with a 5 iron. One hop and it disappeared in the hole. I thought it rolled off the back of the green. It was the only good shot I made that day.

Yes I did. I hit a 9 iron 138 yards dead in the hole at what was then the Houston Levee CC now its called Memphis National. I made the turn -1 but then bogeyed every single hole on the back nine. I was playing with two of my favorite customers and we drank away several good rounds after that shot.

Well the odds of being struck by lighting are about the same as getting a double eagle (one in a million LINK /) so what you did would be close to impossible. Better stay out of the thunderstorms with your luck!

Congrats

I have never had one.

Closest was a double eagle on a par 5.
Hole was downhill so I was able to drive it most of the way after a lucky bounce on a fairway crossing cart path of course.
Worse part was we didn't see it fall in the cup. There was a limb blocking the view of the green. I thought I rolled off the edge, onto the cart path and into the woods.
I walked around the green and in the woods for 15 minutes before my buddy walked up to the cup, looked in then threw my ball at me while calling me a dumbarse.
