It’s definitely not cheating. It’s a major surgery with a longer down time than vaginal birth.

You cannot elect to have one unless you’ve had it previously. Although some doctors work around it by coming up with a medical reason.

The women that “choose” to thinking that it’s easier are idiots.

The mom is in pain after a C-section. They cut your abdomen open and retrieve a human out of there. The recovery time is much longer with a c-section.

Nah he just needs to go teach his son to ride a bike or something. Oh never mind, he's too busy here on TD, father in law already took care of that fatherly duty.

But doctors should advise against it without a medical reason for doing so.

I joked with teh obstetrician that his afternoon tee time was a legit medical reason to do a c-section on our 2nd. Wife was induced at like 5 in the morning, and by 1 or 2 that afternoon she hadn't progressed very far. I could tell he was antsy to get that baby out and get out of Dodge.

Not really. You have to recover from a surgery after a C section. There is definitely a trade off

No, they were referring to elective c-sections.

My bad. In our case my wife was pretty emotional after being told she had to have a c section. But seeing her intestines out of her body is quite a sight. There isn’t nothing easy about a c section. I’d re-evaluate my Dr if they offered C sections for vanity. It is a major surgery.

My wife and some of her friends and I recently got into a discussion where they believe that women who deliver a baby via elective c-section are “cheating” at childbirth because they’re not doing it the old fashioned way through the poon.

I countered if they want to truly go the old fashioned route then they’d do it without an epidural. It was at that point in the conversation that my opinion was ruled invalid and I got the verbal equivalent of gang banged .

Is this a common belief among women?

Women are petty bitches, congratulations for uncovering this fact so late in your life.

See that edit in the OP? 7 minutes after my post. It's almost like the nature of the question might have changed.

I'm assuming you're referring to women who chose to go with a c-section, as opposed to a doctor scheduling it in advance for medical reasons.

You can call it cheating I guess, but idk why anyone would opt for it. Your delivery may be easier, but the recovery is much harder and longer in most cases. Not to mention if you have a c-sec once, you usually have to get them with subsequent pregnancies. You can't lift anything over 10 or 15 lbs for several weeks post c-section, so if you already hvae a kiddo or 2, that is going to make things really rough for the first few weeks.

I'm not sure if it's a common belief among women, but everyones situation is different so I'm not judging anyone's birth plan as long as they are doing everything to ensure the mom and baby's safety during delivery.
