Childbirth back in those days didn’t come easy that’s for sure.

I don’t think invasive surgery is cheating at anything and don’t know why anybody would choose that option without a good reason.

But what do I know. I’ve never spawned.

There really should not be any elective c-sections. There should always be a very good reason that one is done.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I thought that it was only done if necessary, and that women can't opt to have it done that way?

Woman can elect to have a c-section. The doctor doesn't really have to justify it. My wife's OB/GYN had actually offered my wife a c-section a week before her due date (b/c the baby was big) which we declined. My wife eventually 'elected' to have a c-section. She went beyond the due date and hadn't begun to progress (baby didn't drop, not dilated, etc) and the baby was estimated to be close to 11 lbs on the due date. We consulted a couple doctors and the c-section was the best way to go after reviewing options.

Basically we couldn't induce labor since the baby wasn't progressing. The doctors felt she wouldn't go into labor for a couple more weeks which can cause other complications. The baby would be even bigger at that point and having a 11-12lb baby vaginally can wreck shite. While we waited until after the due date and did everything we could to naturally induce labor my wife choose the c-section.

A couple decades ago that was common to have a baby go beyond the due date and we all hear stories about women giving birth to huge babies. However there can be side effects for a baby to stay in the womb too long and there is definitely long term effects for woman to have a large baby vaginally.

Same thing as pain meds for delivery.

You've obviously have never been called every thing in the book, while your wife was doing a natural child birth. I didn't know my wife new that many curse words.

Is an episiotomy cheating or should it tear naturally?

Lemme guess - all the women who criticize elective c sections are stay at home mommies with Facebook groups that bitch about how hard it is to watch toddlers play with toys all day.

Wife had our first C Section, second vaginally. First was at docs recommendation due to concerns over her blood pressure and the measurements of my daughter. We got to the hospital at 5am, we’re in the room by noon, so that part was nice. However the recovery for my wife was awful, she had a tough time and we ended up having my mom and my MIL tag team staying with my wife to help because I only could take a few days off of work.

For my son last year, I woke up at 5 the day before. Originally supposed to be at hospital at midnight, doc called that evening to push us back to 5 because they had a rush on moms show up for delivery, so I didn’t sleep the night before. She was in labor all day, son wasn’t born til after 9pm. Didn’t get to our room until 5 the next morning, so at that point I’d been awake for 48 hrs. Wife had a lot of anxiety about delivering, but she did great. And we had a steady train of nurses coming in congratulating her because apparently having a vaginal birth after c section is a big deal. But the recovery was worth it, she was on her feet in no time and just overall has had such a better time handling it.

There are pros and cons to both, and some women handle it better than others. But is this really something to shame someone over?

My wife is of solid baby birthing stock. Delivered an 8lbs 12oz and 9lbs 14oz vaginally.

She throws those numbers out like SAT scores to one-up the other girls

Doctor tried to offer c-section and she told him hell no.

My ex had ours 100% natural. Doctor tried to schedule a section for both because she was "past her due date".

think it is centered around women that can have a baby vaginally, but choose to have a c-section due to superficial reasons.

Not your argument, but superficial reasons don't even make any logical sense. The scar ain't going away.

Pussy is made of magical material... Stomach muscle and skin is made of the regular stuff. Vaginal birth ftw.

I countered if they want to truly go the old fashioned route then they’d do it without an epidural. It was at that point in the conversation that my opinion was ruled invalid and I got the verbal equivalent of gang banged .

My wife had two without any epidural. She couldnt care less if someone had one or a c section. However there are a few moms who try to talk up C-sections and she gets a little miffed, but thats about it
