OT Fashion Board hot take: Men's Wearhouse suits and sport coats aren't actually that bad

I have several items from there and the quality is just fine for everyday wear. They also usually run them half off or more if you wait a season.

a good tailor can make a big difference in off the rack suits/blazers too. I wear them so rarely I cant justify spending a lot of money for them so places like MW and Jos A Bank have served me well in the past.

It worked pretty well for a quick fix on a new wardrobe after the flood.

I don’t always buy suits, but when I do, I prefer Valentino.

My problem with them is they don’t have seem to really have any straight navy/charcoal business suits it’s all colors and patterns and shite.

They are definitely serviceable and if you either have to wear a suit everyday or only have to wear a suit a couple times a year, they are perfect.
if you wear a suit a few times a month, you probably only need one or two suits and it's probably better to spend a little more and get one that has material that lasts a little better and can hold up to extra rounds at the dry cleaner.
They may not be the most fashion forward suits, but they keep up decently with styles and cut. Overall good stuff for what they are.

Most "decent" suits will look ok provided you have them tailored well after you buy it. I have 2 from Jos A Banks I got on clearance and they don't look any different than a $1,000 suit.

Do you take them to a standalone tailor or a tailor in another store?

Suit buying is a pain in the arse.
If you spend all your money on one really nice one then you end up being that tub who wears the same suit everywhere

I’ve got 1 nice suit from Perlis and the rest are from Men’s warehouse or Dillards.
Can’t really tell a difference once my tailor fits them.

I used to have a job where I had to wear a suit every day. Mens Wearhouse, Jos. A Bank and Brooks Brothers were like a second home. I legitimately needed 10 suits and shirts or they would start to break down by the end of the year. You could tell the shlubs that went cheap an only bought 2 or 3 and bought them off the rack. They'd look like they were wearing old paper bags by the end of the year.
The MW are perfect for this. Go there, grab a couple when they have a sale, have them tailor it and you're good to go.
There is no underestimating how much more comfortable it is to wear something properly tailored.

I used to play golf with an older gentleman, Robert Wright, and he would fly to Hong Kong and have his suits tailored. So, fit is all relative...

I wore a MH suit every day for 20 years. They take a beating and still look decent

They are literally the same thing. Jos A Bank used to be good... 30 years ago. Then Men's Warehouse bought them and they went to shite.

Do they come in XXL and have a PFG style air vent in the back? Asking for tOT.

I would buy a couple of suits a year from Jos A Bank and a half dozen bullet proof shirts. I still have some sport shirts.
I could throw them in my bag, let them get lost somewhere between Denver and Seattle and they'd be fine when the actually arrived in Spokane.
I was a customer until they were taken over by Men's Wearhouse.

I used to buy all of my suits from Jos A Bank because they had XLong sizes & great prices. When Men’s Warehouse bought them the XLong suits went away. Just bought new tailored suits from Dillards. Great fit, pricing was more than I would have liked, but prices for everything these days is more than I would like.
