So I'm on the market for an electric smoker but I'm confused re: Brands. Does it matter with respect to these products? I see everything from Char Broil brand to Jim Beam with both familiar and unfamiliar lines in between. The prices seem to range from as little as $95 on Prime to upwards of $5-600.

It's just me and my wife and the occasional family, in laws and friends over. So I don't need a smoker big enough to do 10 racks of ribs in a setting. But I would like to be able to turn out a decent amount of food if we are entertaining.

So...any suggestions? Is electric blasphemous? If so what would you recommend? If you can get past my heresy, what electric brands would you recommend? Has anyone gotten away with a simple, basic model that didn't break the bank that produced great results?

For your troubles, here's a gif of a beautiful woman named Selma Hayek.

UPDATE/ETA:

I settled on this wifi/dado enabled model from CharBroil. I picked it up at the Stines in Walker for a Pre-Black Friday Special Price of $149.

Seems like I got a good price as most of the listings I saw put it at over $200. Looking to start smoking ASAP. Thanks for the many responses! As a token of my gratitude, here is a link to the manliest music video/hardware store powertool advertisement in world history.

Satisfaction

I use wood in a cast iron pot on a propane burner. A very good set up. I also use some pellets to add additional smoke flavor.

Add an AMAZE-N smoke tube and never worry about smoking low and slow again.

AMAZE-N smoke tube

That's what it's called. Thanks, I forgot. Put the additional pellets in that for the additional smoke. Still use real wood though for the main portion of smoking

Don't get the Bradley smoker. I have one and everything about it is expensive. It does a great job but I am sure that the cheaper brands would do just as well.

Masterbuilt 30

Wife bought me one of these for $99 on an Amazon lightning deal two Black Fridays ago. I vied for the electric model for convenience and I don't have any regrets.

I have a masterbuilt 30. It's great, especially if you buy the attachment that lets you produce smoke at any temperature.

Don't waste your time with an electric. Get a pit barrel cooker.

I have that one. Works great. It has 4 racks. I usually do 3 racks of ribs and a box of sausage on the 4th rack. If you want a bit bigger I think they have a 40".

There is a model that all make I believe where you have to open the damned door to add wood or pellets. DONT get that one. It's cheaper but what the hell is the point to losing all your heat and smoke?

Has to have a little twist tube that you can load with wood during a long smoking.

I take pride in being personally responsible for cooking one of the best turkeys I've ever eaten. Borrowed a buddies Masterbilt.

It is virtually an outdoor toaster so I wouldn't expect much longevity.

I have a Masterbuilt 40 and have been pleased. I also got the small cold smoking attachment. Use that for cold smoking fish or cheese, and for long periods of constant smoke for real smoked sausage, etc.
