On Friday I started with a cough then Friday night I felt like crap. Woke up, felt ok, and did some work around the house. The cough got progressively worse and then Saturday night I felt like pure shite. Woke up yesterday morning with 101 degree fever and it quickly diminished to 98-99 during the day. The fever went away yesterday afternoon but my cough has gotten a good bit worse.

I don't want to add to the patients going to the doctor over every little thing right now but my wife is pregnant and I'd like to get checked out just to be on the safe side. My wife keeps nagging me begging me to go to the doctor.

What advice can you OT docs give me? Sit it out and see what happens with the cough or go in?

Not a dr, but I’d go get tested.
Stay away from others.

That’s my suggestion.

Call your PCP.

I would go to be safe, simply because of your pregnant wife

Although FYI - not sure if this has changed, but BR wasn’t giving any CV tests outpatient

Call the doctor first and tell them your symptoms so they can be adequately prepared with PPE, but you definitely need to go.

Call the doctor and tell them what is going on. Have you not watched any news at all lately giving guidance on what to do if you think you’re sick?

I would start with tele-doc and let them recommend whether you go or not before taking advice from OweO

I would monitor your symptoms a little longer before going to the doctor. The better timeline you have, the doctor can go on that information. It is still flu season, so it may be that more likely.

Still, stay away from others. That doesn't only apply to the novel coronavirus, but people seem to forget that.

I’d prescribe less news and internet reading for your hypochondria.

i would. Maybe call first? It could be something that would require antibiotics or it could be that you need some kick arse cough medicine.

I’d again call the office or clinic where you would go. .

Are you in BR? Facebook says they won’t test you here unless you’ve got other high risk health issues. No clue if that’s true, but it’s not worth going to the doctor if so.

What's a Dr. going to do for you besides isolate you?

With your fever subsiding I wouldn't worry a whole lot, just call your Dr and see what they say.
