Mercedes S550 2011 39K miles. $27,000
It's a tank. Thinking of buying for my daughter.
Never owned a Mercedes.
ETA it's an S550. No L. It's the big, big sedan

Pics of daughter to determine if purchase is worth it or not.

Leather seats?
Easier to clean after she gets cream-pied in the back seat...

Lot of mechanical and electrical things that would cost lots of money to fix. I wouldn't be buying that for my daughter. I'd go Lexus if you want her in a nice luxury type vehicle.

Have fun with the expensive repairs

Convertible? Driven by a woman previously?
Offer 3K lower.

That car doesn't have a back seat....
So the front seats will be easier to clean.

High HP RWD car. Is this daughter a teenager? If so brilliant move if you hate her.

Is it a Southern thing where the kid has the nicest car in the garage?
I see it ALL OF THE TIME around here.
Nicest truck is the boy's...
Mercedes for the daughter when dad drives an old truck and mom drives a ten year old SUV.
Your kid's popularity isn't that important.

Its an S 550 - no L - edited the original post.
It's my neighbor's car - he's going into assisted living.
I like the fact that is big and heavy. But am concerned with expensive European repairs.

Then run away from this.
How old is the kid?

She's almost 17.
I have been driving the car for 2 days and it is fine. The seat kind of hugs you in when you turn a corner. In my 20 married years I have had two Landcruisers and now this Lexus SUV that I hate. Never much cared about a car being comfortable, but damn this is like driving a recliner.

If it was taken care of then it's not bad. Yes repairs and maintenance are pricey. It was over 80k when new. It's not the early model so it doesn't have the engine issues. Also if you have some car repair skills some of the repairs aren't very difficult to do your self.

It is going to be about as mobile as a recliner given the components that are absolutely going to fail.

I know it's hard for poors to understand, but there are people out there with money. Money they don't mind spending on luxury vehicles, luxury vacations, watches, homes, boats, etc.

Pecker it has nothing to do with poors.
Why make a 27k car a beater?
I beat the shite out of my first car. Now? I baby it except on the tollway :D

those cars are for adults with the plenty of money to fix them when something goes wrong. No son/daughter still living at home should have one. It's a given she's going to hit something in that land yacht.
That's a $100,000 car. the parts will reflect that even though the car isn't worth that.
If you've never owned one, be prepared to have a stroke when anything related to the air matic suspension goes out--and it will.
And don't think you're going to save by working on it yourself. They're heavily computerized.
Even changing a bulb can be a hassle on these cars. $300 to replace a low beam bulb.
