A buddy of mines dad worked for oracle up until about 10 years ago. He made a lot of money working for them. Seems He retired just in time

I would wager that list had a lot of AVP and VP's on it.

For laying him off or doing it via email? Been there done that. There is no good way to lay off an employee or be the employee let go. If Oracle is evil, it ain’t because of how or when they shitcan someone.

Delta Air Lines is in the midst of a RIF as well. Cutting middle management positions, some will be replaced by junior employees, some automated.

It’s tough out there in Corporate America too.

Our elected leaders are in for a reckoning this fall. Unfortunately I doubt their replacements will be much better.

get what this person is saying, but at this level it's better to just rip off the band aid and send out the mass emails

FWIW, I went through an acquisition years ago and got laid off with a severance. I would’ve much preferred an email and check on day 1, than the few months of the new company sugar coating everything and forcing management to make a bunch of bs excuses and finger pointing.

Correct. Everyone that says the 6am email sucks, arguably what’s worse is 50,000 employees nervous to lose their jobs for the 2-3+ weeks it takes to formally meet with them all.

You know how long it takes to meet with 10,000-20,000 people individually?

They definitely will be able to get unemployment.

Hell, you can fire people for cause and a lot of times they will get unemployment.

Kinda crappy, but I'm sure the company informed managers to have no correspondence with laid off employees at least for some amount of time. I'd guess that the boss had very short warning as in, maybe the day before at the end of the day. Or the boss was notified same day. Sucky how these mass layoffs work.

I've debated a career move over the last few years, but I've been with my company for 20 years now. It's hard to give up the tenure to go somewhere else where you're a new guy and severance would be significantly less were they to lay you off. Hell, sometimes I wished I had gotten laid off on rounds where they were giving severance.

I called this last year (well, I was told by a higher up that this was coming).

This is just the first salvo.

The west coast is about to see a WHOLE LOT of homes hit the market in the next 18 months - 2 years.

They’d already plowed through the VP ranks. This list was comprised of Directors and senior analysts.

Over promise and under deliver!

If cannot get the top line, it’s time to cut costs to move the bottom line.
