automatic door locks have basically gotten rid of this practice.
I'd do it on a first date type of deal, but there was a time you actually had to go unlock the door.
That is when it made sense, that is when it was the polite/gentlemanly thing to do.

Sometimes you all worry about the stupidest things. Who cares if the woman drives and the guy opens her door? Worry about your own life instead of someone else’s.
