Do it. But add sound walls and pretty landscaping to appease the neighborhood.

Get a group of dudes to dress really gay and enter the forum performing a synchronized dance using hula hoops.

At the conclusion of the dance, set off some pyrotechnics and have a guy with a booming mic descend from the rafters shouting “give it up for that FRUIT LOOPS!!!!”

If done correctly, the word LOOPS will echo throughout their halls for eternity.

What a waste of time. I’ve lived in Baton Rouge for 20 years and these meetings have happened for as long as I can remember. No action.

Can someone find a list of addresses of these properties? The only one listed by name is the Merchant.
I tried last night and can't find them. I am hoping someone from tonight's meeting will get that list for us.

quote:

Most of the affected homes are between either Washington Street and Dalrymple Drive or Perkins Road and Acadian Thruway. Of the 17, nine or 10 are rental properties, one is vacant and six are owner occupied, said Eric Kalivoda, deputy secretary for the state Department of Transportation and Development. The state also plans to buy four businesses in the path of the work, including a convenience store, salon, barber shop and The Overpass Merchant, a restaurant at 2904 Perkins Rd, officials said.

Is racism involved? Racism has to be involved somehow.

Let me explain how this is done.

1. Organize a group of people who all look the same to go to things like this.

2. Regardless of merit, repeat over and over that the plan will disproportionately effect your group over others.

3. Use “racism” and “racist” repeatedly.

4. Demand that funding from the tax dollars allocated for the project include payments to your pet projects. Don’t forget an under the table agreement that your cousins firm get the work in exchange for your group not making waves again.

5. Profit.*

That bitch can take a seat. My dad's parents house on Hollywood Street was taken for I-110.
Bluebonnet and Staring expansions both took homes from people.
It happens.

And all of these properties along I-10 are on the right-of-way designated as such during initial construction planning 50 yrs ago.

Furthermore, they are all getting FMV for these properties these days. Ole stories of lowballing people for freeway development would never fly. Read the article. two appraisals paid for by DOTD and you can pay to get your own to reach a FMV $$.

We know two families affected by Bluebonnet and Staring and BOTH made out MUCH better. to this widening finally happening.

I agree on this 100%. Like anything else in BR though, this will somehow become a race and political issue instead of a simply doing something everyone across the country bitches about when it comes to BR.
