Or some sort of financial human being. He's the only name I know.

Ohhhh. Whatever
You get my point.
^ LOL. Oops.
I'm also surprised the interviewer could even get them aside because I witnessed Disney Springs last year on a work trip, and it's like herding cattle over there. So many people.

My boys are in their late teens and love that we always took mountain and beach trips instead of wasting a vacation on Disney. They talk about all the amazing hiking we've done often. I know they wouldn't call Disney significant.
Reminds me of the video where the parents surprise the kids telling them they’re going to Disney, and the disappointed little boy says “I thought we were going to Cocodrie!”

Dude if that were true, I wouldn't be tripping over those crowds there.
Those parks would be so much better if half the people weren't there on any given day.

That’s less than $600 a month. People spend that on toys.
You have a $600/month toy allowance?

Y’all act like Disney trips were a dime a dozen back in the day. my family was public school middle class when I was growing up and we didn’t take a Disney trip till I was in high school.

love rollercoasters, but if that's what I'm after, I'm going to Cedar Point, not Disney.
Agreed. Also, check out kings island, which is also in Ohio. Owned by the same company and also a great park.

Disney World is one of those places you go once, experience it and go somewhere else next time. This country has so many interesting and fun places to visit that it seems foolish to limit your vacation plans to the same place every time.

Can only wealthy people spend 5k on a vacation?

I think different kids like different things, TBH.
I was never a "Disney kid". I didn't like any particular princess or specific Disney movie. I had them on VHS and whatnot -- I didn't hate them. Just was far more into stuff like Barbies. I ditched cartoons much younger than my brother did, for example.
We went to Disney the summer before I turned 12. Nothing about it stands out in my memory. My parents were also kinda pushy about the big rides when we went to any sort of amusement park, which I was scared of, so most of my trip was spent stressing about which ride I was going to get forced on.
Honestly, what I remember most of the trip was the smell of the monorail.

I call it a Trip and not a vacation for that reason.
As for Disney, we went a couple of years ago and took my 6 year old son. He loved it. No fear, road all rides we was tall enough to ride.
However, other then seeing him enjoy the trip, is wasn’t a great experience for me and the wife.

Keep putting off a trip because of amounts I see thrown around, but I'd book it if we could keep it at $5k just to scratch that off the kids' wish list.
Don't try to do all four parks in one trip. Go to two parks in a shorter, cheaper trip. If you love it, you can go back. If you didn't enjoy it, then you didn't miss anything by not doing the other parks.

A middle class family that saves 10 bucks a day can afford a Disney vacation every 2 years. (And have money left over). This is silly

We just got back, my kids (17F,14M) wanted to go. They had a blast. We have been at least once a year for the last 6 or so years. I think I am close to convincing them to try something else next year.

This is a great tip! Go and do Magic Kingdom and Holly wood studis. Those 2 parks have the most rides for kids. Animal Kingdom is cool but it has a limited amount of attractions and EPCOT is mostly for Adults.

It’s a shame the American dream is gone. No houses for the middle class and no vacations to Disney World for the middle class. That is unless you saved for years!
I don’t think this is entirely true. Housing has gotten expensive and frustrating….thats painfully accurate in places like California. It’s even true in parts of Louisiana now.
And life is hard if you have the misfortune of long term health issues, addiction, or if you are a single parent.
But most people today have things we would never have dreamed of 40 years ago:
- high end, high tech computer that fits in your pocket
- car with navigation - usually an 250+ horsepower SUV
- ability to order affordable goods delivered to your door
- multiple streaming services that brings entertainment to your home on demand.
Disney isn’t cheap, but it was also jam packed with people when we went in December. And we were told that we went on a traditionally slow week. So if it’s only for the rich - nobody is getting that memo.

You can go camping in a state park for a fraction of that cost. Stop wasting your money on shite
