The map also appeared on the search question and I found it interesting and a must have when planning where I will book hotels in the future. After our last vacation my wife stated she doesn’t want to stay any place where you can’t flush toilet paper. Those countries are on the travel ban list.

If your grandparents are alive, they might remember when a bucket of corn cobs and the Sears catalogue was in the outhouse out back because no electricity or indoor plumbing.
After World War II is when electricity and plumbing became more commonplace. I remember when the first air conditioner was installed in the county and it was a HUGE deal.

I was in Turkey last year and forgot about not flushing toilet paper. It promptly clogged the toilet. This was at the Blue Mosque. Lol.

I’ve been to Colombia and everywhere I went, there was nothing indicating that TP shouldn’t be flushed. I was in a smaller coastal city so maybe it’s different everywhere else, but was surprised to see it in red vs orange.

Yes. When I was in Nigeria we had to put the toilet paper in a waste basket by the toilet. Plus there was never any toilet paper. You had to provide your own most of the time. I told the company hosting us that if they didn’t issue toilet paper to us I’d start using Naira, which is their worthless currency. They wre highly offended.
