I've never seen anyone post a picture while wearing an expensive watch and sitting in a cubicle

You make an assumption without any real knowledge, rather you rely on your own self-conscious perspective.
Not that I fit your box, but I, myself, wear boot-cut Levis with cowboy boots (Anderson Beans, Justins, etc.). Haven’t felt the need for custom boots yet. But I’m just poor Texas trash now

I’d never buy one but I’ve loved several Brietlings I’ve seen.

Rolex will be the real #1 vote. But I’m not looking to own the same piece that is every guys “dream watch
The Speedy is #2 on the list for "every guys dream watch" .

My grandfather had a Regina pocket watch, which was an early subsidiary of Omega. The parts were made in Switzerland and assembled in Canada, where most of them were sold. I don't know how he ended up with it. They were massed produced, so not very rare. A running one goes for about $100. One in perfect condition may bring $1000-1500.
Very cool!

I have a vintage Omega, sweet little watch from the days they, and Rolex, were still a working man's watch.
I'd say a Hamilton Khaki automatic is a great choice for a sub-$500 all-arounder. Same with any number of Seiko Presage automatics.

I bought a Rolex 41 blue face on the gray market at the end of 2019 for a bar under $7,000. Checked the price last night on the same arch and same seller and it is now $11,000

Not surprised by this comment here. I wouldn’t expect many people on this board to enjoy the engineering and nuances of watch making.

Omega and Swatch are embarking on some kind of mystery joint venture being announced March 26. A lot of Omega fans aren't happy about what they perceive as downscaling or brand dilution. (I know Swatch is Omega's parent company). LINK

Anybody in here fricking with Pagani Design watches? They make a bunch of homages that are well reviewed. Really inexpensive watches but usually Seiko movement and nice construction. Sapphire crystal and beautiful cases. The brand is shitty, of course, but nice looking watches. I am going to buy some and de-badge them.

Rolex Cosmograph Daytona with Meteorite back dial

An old GMT Master II with a Pepsi dial. I’d put it on a jubilee strap.
I think a simple silver Datejust is the most versatile watch you could ever buy though. Especially the ones from the 80s.

These are the only two watches I own, and I’m a badass.

Pagani is waaaay too close to a cheap Rolex copy for me to be comfortable wearing one. Even if it's not the intention, it gives off "I'm trying to make people believe I'm wearing a Rolex" vibes
