I was thinking about buying life insurance, but instead have decided to break the law 16 times and do multiple stints in jail, all the while fathering multiple kids with different women.. and to seal my legacy, I’ll sell drugs and cd after midnight at a gas station, assault a man with a gun, and when the cops come.. I’ll fight them, reach for said gun and finally get paid, first in lead, then again by the tax payers who have been supporting me and my family my whole life

Everyone involved should be charged with malfeasance. Statutory limit is 500k, so max is 2.5 mill if you interpret it as each kid getting their own 500k. City has no 1983 punitive exposure as this is not a police/city policy situation. Guy didn’t work , nor did he ever pay CS. No economic or medical a involved. I would think that a EBR citizen could challenge the legality of it as well given that it so far out of whack relative the law.

At $10 a cd, he’s have to sell 123 cds a day for a decade to make that change. What a deal!!!!

Um, it wasn’t just the black councilman/women that voted in favor....
This has nothing to do with only being black.

Its not yet known if Sterling’s family will accept the offer.
So no “back door” talks about them accepting this and a non-disclosure agreement? They just decided to pass a 4.5 million settlement? Shouldn’t there be insurance companies and (non-politician) lawyers involved in such an offer/potential settlement? Seems weird that the city/parish counsel has so much power. Could they pass a 10 million dollar settlement? Is there a limit? Could they award Coach Orgeron a 100 million dollar bonus if he beats Alabama?

Just want to know how they have the authority to give taxpayer money away like this. This should be a civil suit heard in court. Not a fricking metro council.

You think his son will use his part to pay men for sex now instead of raping little boys?

Who didn’t see that one coming?
Be interesting to see how often, if at all, he votes against the mayor

This was to be expected I think. Baton Rouge has already been on the fast path to Jackson, Montgomery or Little Rock but it has accelerated in the last 5 years or so

The best decision I ever made. You realize how much of a shite hole BR really is, when you move to greener pastures.
