Safe to say the deductible and out of pocket max will be met

Honestly, most insurance policy’s have a lifetime max that wouldn’t cover the charges.

I can tell you this. I’ve been in here for almost 3 months and the bill before the surgery was up to 2.9 million. So I would say for the very specialized hands that were working on me it’ll be at least another million. And I’ve gotta stay in here for a few months and then in the area for about six months total. So it’s gonna definitely hit that deductible.

Holy crap, I didn’t realize you would be away from home so long
When will your family be able to visit?
I’m assuming there’s worry about infection

I would imagine you are either at UMMC in Jackson or Ochsner in New Orleans. If in Jackson, I am local so if you need anything, let me know.

My wife is staying with me full time for now. Her mom is back in Hattiesburg with our 4 little ones. Once I get out of the Cardiac ICU the kids will be able to come visit. That will be a couple of weeks probably.

Yea infection is the biggest worry, but I’m taking a bunch of immunosuppressants to weaken my immune system to prevent organ rejection. I’ll be on these drugs for the rest of my life.

Got a long way to go, but I’m determined to be ready to go and be home for baseball season!

I really appreciate the offer man, but we actually came over to Houston Methodist. They have one of the only surgeons in the country capable of doing MY surgery. I had a very rare and specific heart anatomy that not just anyone could operate on.

I’ve got a brother that lives about 30 minutes from the hospital, so him and his wife and kids are keeping us stocked on necessities.

Thanks again for the offer though! I really appreciate it!

That's actually the best thing for you. Getting moving, doing the cardiac physical therapy and getting quality rest and nutrition will pay dividends for years to come.

Well, something is going to take you home.

But not this. Not today.

Figured I could share this here and give y’all a chuckle. When you walk and do PT they let you listen to whatever music you want. Thin this was 3 days post op with being under the knife for 20 of those hours.

My wife knows how to motivate me….

The question everyone needs to know: Are the doctors strictly prohibiting you from watching LSU football games?

So what caused both your heart and liver to require R2?
