A heron getting eaten by a bobcat who's getting eaten by an alligator. It's like nature's turducken.

I've been going down the rabbit hole of links on that site.
This was the 2016 (I think) Audubon Photo Contest winner:

As close to a nature turducken that we're probably going to get. A red fox, some sort of varmint, and a bald eagle.

Story Behind the Shot:
I had spent the day photographing foxes and was panning with this kit running with its prey when an unmistakable cry made me look up. I just knew the eagle racing our way was after the fox’s rabbit. I expected to have only a split second to capture the theft in one explosive frame; instead the eagle snagged the fox and rabbit, carrying both 20 feet off the ground. After eight seconds it dropped the fox, seemingly unharmed, and flew away with its stolen dinner.

Poor Heron.
Who among us hasn't been taken down by angry pussy?

That cat on heron is amazing. Cats remember the patterns of other animals and stalk them where they know they'll be the most exposed. We have to change the spot we feed birds every week for this reason. I know the heron came down probably pretty quick, but I wonder what the cat would have done if the heron managed to get really high? Maybe enjoyed the ride till it got low again I'd guess.

Sweet cat. Took time out of his day to redirect the poor heron who was obviously off course.

I guess they will hunt down and prosecute bobkitty for killing a “protected species”.

I never knew how good cats were at catching birds, rats, etc. till we got one. If they can get a paw on it, it’s over. Their claws are like Velcro. Death machines

Our outdoor cat usually doesn't bother the birds at the feeder.
The explosion of feathers at our back patio door say yesterday was not one of those days.
