So you saved .83 cents a day on a 60 month note to pay yourself back for the check you wrote instead of supporting your local economy.

My dealer comes get my truck from my office for oil changes and other maintenance. They usually wash it for free while it's there. They leave me something to drive while it's gone. I doubt you'll get that from a dealer you don't buy vehicles from.
I bought two vehicles when I lived in Houston and the biggest difference was they tried to get me in and out as fast as possible instead of spending the time to make sure I had what I need
Yes, they will come get me and they do provide a loaner. But that is a Lexus dealer, so I'm sure it's not quite the same as a Honda or something.
Both buys in Houston for me were all easy. When one didn't have the features we wanted in the base model, we went across the interstate. They called 5 times while we were at the other dealer until they offered higher packages at the same price as the other dealers base. No idea how, but it was over 4k below what I saw was dealer hold back pricing. They busted their arse helping us and had to have lost money (They said it was end of their financial year and needed to move inventory. I did independent research and still don't know how they would make money, so I believe them at least a little) there were some terrible dealers we went into, but some were amazing to deal with. And that's what I like about here, if one sucks, you cam drive 10 miles to another with the same size lot

That's your problem. You can't say "give me your best price." You have to make an offer. Do your homework.
Never make an offer. That's horrible advice. Know the real value, shut up, and be willing to walk out. They will trip over themselves to keep you from leaving a lot of the time (at least if you've made it clear that you are 100% buying). They might possibly take off more than you'd imagine, so let them make the mistake of offering "too much".

The only thing you are supporting on a 60 month note is a finance company.
I've bought a dozen in Canton, Terrell and Dallas over the last decade. Ten percent cheaper at least every time. I am supporting my local economy. My own household economy is the most important economy to me.

I looked at getting my wife a Pilot or CRV a few years ago. The Honda store here had a dealership sticker in addition to the factory one. $900 worth of bullshite, including undercoating and acid rain protection(!). Like some bad movie stereotype of a car dealer. I laughed in the guy's face and bought a Lexus.
Somehow the Honda dealer here, Holmes, has retained their monopoly as the only store for 60 miles in any direction. I guess they rely on boomers too lazy to shop around.

No one said a word about a note or a loan from a finance company. If he wrote a check out of account you have to factor in what it cost to put that money back into his account.

Ive done the same thing for three of my last 4 purchases. Dealers near me wont deal even when im showing them what im getting in Houston.

So youre paying more to get them to be your friend?

I'm not sure how you relate good customer service with friendship but ok
But for full disclosure I am friends with the owner of the dealership that I buy my trucks from

That's pretty much the point. I don't negotiate. I say give me your best price and the local yocals have never beat the big dogs in Houston. I don't haggle.
Maybe some people need to post pics of their deals. Proof is on the paper.

Must be a dealer. Only dealers talk in terms of monthly note vs the actual cost.

We just bought a vehicle off of the company's US website. Built it like we wanted, paid a deposit, they're building it now...mid-Sept delivery date. Dealer contacted us. Pretty unreal you can buy something like that online.

I fart in the general direction of anyone buying new vehicles. Used, 2 yrs old, low mileage, low price, cash is the only way to geaux!

When I lived in Dallas, I once flew to New Orleans to pick up a vehicle I had bought...it works both ways.

It's about volume in Houston and Dallas, they can take less, because right after you leave 4 more are walking in the door .
I recently bought a vehicle and the truck prices were better in Houston than in Louisiana, but not as much as I thought.
After looking all over Houston I enventually purchased a vehicle 10 mins from my house with better options for a cheaper price.

I live in Houston. I drove to Dallas to buy my last Audi and found a sweet deal. It's not about "Houston" have the better deals. It's more about taking time to shop around and not be afraid to travel to other cities to find deals.
If you are going to finance something for several years, it's rather short sighted to only check out the dealership by your house.

Another thing about going from Louisiana to "Houston" to buy a car. The dealers know why you're there. They already know you think you're going to a great deal, so they use that in their favor.
They'll search prices in your area, then offer you a slightly better deal to keep you in the seat. I also noticed that they'll offer you a near base option package for the "low" price they quoted you, before you even mention what package you're interested in.

No. I don't finance, I don't pay notes. I'm just sharing my money saving experience in case others want to save on a new car purchase. Also I never visited a dealer or talked to one on the phone (until a deal was agreed on). To me that is a waste of my time. Everything was negotiated via internet.

I did the same thing. The dealer in Houston beat the best deal I could get from 5 local dealers by $2,900. More power to the pseudo OT Ballers who want to blow off thousands of dollars.

I did the same a couple of years ago. I flew to Chicago and saved roughly $3k over what anyone in the southeast quoted me.
