You might as well read a book about Bigfoot because they both are equally absurd

I don’t think they ever existed. I think Joseph Smith was a con man

There were 11 named witnesses, and most left the church but didn’t recant their statements. The testaments were formal and signed.

I mentioned Fawn Brodie's biography of Joseph Smith earlier in this thread. She deals with the topic of the 11 witnesses in depth. I'll leave it at that.

Yea, I think she’s right, and would probably say the same about the eye witness accounts of Jesus.

Any time you see a group that says they believe in God, but practice from their own " Book" that isn't the Bible, you can dismiss them.

They're a cult.

People get upset about the Polygamy but the biggest heresy of Mormonism is the idea that God was once a man, that we can become Gods of our own worlds, and that Christ was created and not eternal. It’s not a sect of Christianity, It’s in opposition to true Christianity.

Isn’t the Bible just another cult’s “own book”?

Exactly.

I've known lots Mormons.

By and large, they're good folks.

But being "good " has nothing to do eith it.

In this world, I'd say it's one of the least kooky things.

The bible was selectively picked too. Then it was selectively interpreted.

There's a reason there are hundreds of different denominations and the goal line for what is true continually moves.

Don't forget the bible was used to justify the earth being flat, slavery, segregration and the list goes on.

I don't know a lot about their religion, but they are generally really good people. Their church is doing its job.

Bible Expedition- Test of a Prophet

If anyone is interested, watch the 2 videos that Joel Kramer with Bible Expedition has on Mormons, warning they are about an hour long apiece.
