Depends on the material and the person. I've unfollowed people for differences in opinion, but it was more the cause of them not even wanting to discuss with anyone. They wanted to put their opinion out there as "the way it is" or "the way it should be", and anyone that disagreed was just wrong and an idiot.
I have no problem engaging with people of different opinions (half of my friends are Saints fans for starters), but when you are the "I'm always right, you're always wrong type", I have no use for your posts on my timeline.

There is a ignore for 30 day feature which I routinely use for friends that post too much junk.

I've unfollowed a few people because they were annoying, posting trashy or stupid stuff all day long. Never for something I didn't agree with.
I occasionally delete people when I come across ones who I barely know and am likely never to see again.
Never blocked anybody.

None of the above. I got off FB several years ago. Way too many pics of people’s new shoes, freshly cut grass, food....and relentless advertising. I just realized I’m too old to be nosy about what my “friends I’ve only met once and friends I hadn’t seen in 5 years” were up to on a daily basis.

I use to engage, and then decided to get rid of it all together. Best decision I ever made. 2 years now and I swear I’m a happier person not reading that crap daily.

Once I get a friends request, the first thing I do is unfollow them. I just don’t like my timeline being cluttered with stuff from every five minutes of their lives.

I only unfollow people who constantly think everyone else wants to see posts by all these random pages they follow. If I wanted my FB feed to be full of recipes, memes, and cute puppy videos then I would follow those pages myself. The share button is the worst thing to happen to FB

Of course. That's the key to enjoying facebook. Several years ago, I deleted all of the backwoods racist asshats from back home. Then I started hiding the friends who only want to post political crap, especially older family members who just share BS that usually is a lie or at best a half truth.
The next phase was getting rid of the bored housewives selling crap.
Not it's an enjoyable useful thing for me.

Exactly. There are millions of pages, blogs, sites, news channels if I want to see people's political garbage non-stop. I don't need/want that on facebook.

I think this is what the OP meant, people who act like idiots on Facebook over the latest CNN hysteria of the day.
I never realized how fricking stupid millennials were until they turned into NPCs after Trump announced he was running for president.
People who never posted anything political before were suddenly crying about racism and toxic masculinity. Ain't nobody got time for that level of idiocy.
If an aunt or uncle posts some random political gotcha I don't really care or notice, just skip right over.
Difference of opinion I can handle, brainwashed stupidity and virtue signalling is an automatic unfollow.

I would never unfollow, delete or block just because I don't agree with someone. However, if they're one of those people that feel as if they have to remind the world every 10 minutes about how right they are regarding the latest political issue I will unfollow them. I just don't want my feed cluttered with their ramblings. Life is too short and I would rather spend my time enjoying its positive elements.
