Went to the doctor a few years ago and he said you should spend the night in the hospital and asked me where. And gasping though pain I was like “the…. the…. the… General….”
The General on Bluebonnet is by far the best hospital in BR. I wasn’t about to spend a night in that OLOL shite hole.

Since the Lake became an LSU hospital it has gone to shite. They botched my
Moms gall bladder removal a few years ago. Last year my moms husband went in to have a kidney removed….he ended up spending 5 months in the hospital because they cut his spleen, his pancreas and his colon during his procedure. I have a reference for a vet right done the road from there that I’d recommend first!!!

Same thing happened to me with my Mother...I left. DO NOT GO TO THE LAKE..
Take your Mom anywhere else. Get her in the car and go.

Should have called 911 and had an ambulance transport her.
You still get triaged and have to wait, coming in on a gurney doesn't automatically get you to the front of the line.

I called one of the after hours and they said due to her age (80+) they recommended taking her to an emergency room. I usually go the after hours clinics for treatment.
FYI I wasn't talking about a small clinic I was talking about the ED at a smaller hospital like OLOL Ascension. At the larger OLOL main campus you get stuck in a long line of triage if you don't have a life threatening issue. At least where I live the smaller hospitals are MUCH quicker to get in and out with something like a potential arm fracture. It may be a little longer drive but I would be you would have been seen and headed home in less than 5 hours if it was a simple fracture.

She needs to see the ortho group there. Sucks she had to wait so long but that’s ER’s in general. ER’s accept every patient regardless on if they have insurance or a bullshite complaint

What fricking idiot goes to the Lake? Did you literally move to town like yesterday?
Even the maintenance people who work there go to the BR General.

They have to attend to people who arrived after her if they have more pressing needs. A heart attack in progress, for example, will always generate more attention than a possible broken arm, because the heart attack patient may die.

Life was a better when we had a working charity hospital in Baton Rouge.

The OLOL has replaced EKL as the "charity" hospital in BR.

Based on this thread I have learned that if you live in BR and have a medical emergency, you should go to the general and save some time.

Thanks Jindal. At least with all the money the State saved from that brilliant move we have a new loop!
