OLOL is terrible. Really, really, really terrible. It's depressing, actually. Horrendous, horrible, bad. The worst. Not very good at all.

Should have called 911 and had an ambulance transport her.
I've seen many patients come in via ambulance and immediately get wheelies right out to the waiting room.

How you arrive doesn't help. It's your symptoms.

The two times I went were smooth enough but I would always choose BR General over OLOL for an hospital admission. Smaller and less chaotic. I also didn't have to worry about my family members getting robbed coming to visit.

Our Lady of the Wake. If you go to the dreaded 6th floor, work on your obit while waiting for a nurse to check on you.

OLOL has a damn strong ER.

But yeah, it's incredibly busy.

It definitely is smaller and less chaotic. OLOL has more beds than any other hospital in the state. It's larger than Northwestern in Chicago.

It's a huge hospital, and it's confusing IMO.

Yeh, the point of an ER is to keep people from dying. I would say OLOL has the strongest in the state, their trauma physicians are excellent and where you want to go if you need a miracle to keep you alive.

. I’m sorry for the OPs Inconvenience, but the value of an ER isn’t how well they treat broken arms

It's definitely of the biggest in the state, and the only Trauma center in the Baton Rouge metro.

It's similar to University Hospital in New Orleans in the sense that it gets a lot of burn victims, car crashes, GSW's, etc. on top of the other typical ER stuff. And not all emergencies are equal in severity.

To those who love the general, I disagree. Went there at 10 am Saturday for abdominal pain and upper sternum pain. Was stuck in the hall for treatment (hippa?) since there were no beds. They did not treat my pain for 5 hours only got meds because I begged, they did not even give me fluids or a gown. Nurse had a shitty attitude bc I wanted to call my husband who was back home an hour away. I cried and begged for help laying flat on ct scanner bc I was hurting so bad and I had to pull down my Jean shorts myself without any assistance for the scan. They couldn’t find anything wrong. DC me after 7 hours with pain meds. Made the trip home and came to Lafayette general Sunday am. Within 10 mins of arrival I had an ekg then put in a large room. Got iv with adequate pain relief, fluids, monitors hooked up, blankets, pillows. 2 doctors were taking care of me and then 4 more surgeons came in before we even scanned me. The only snafu we had was brg wouldn’t answer the phone or send my ct scan to lgmc. So they repeated the scan. Lo and behold I had an intestinal obstruction and required emergency surgery Sunday afternoon. Completely ridiculous. Their rooms were filled with people who had a hurt toe and called an ambulance or one old person next to me was talking too much so her cna called 911 since she had dementia and normally doesn’t talk much.

Sat in the ER hallway with my wife for hours a few weeks back at OLOL. Got to a room, and the service was horrendous in the unit she's in. The Lake has very few nurses that are not out of town travel nurses. They just don't give a shite. Wife kept running a high fever due to infection, and would hit the call button so they could check it or give her Tylenol to bring it down. They got tired of coming down to see her, so they gave her own thermometer so she could check it herself and they wouldn't have to come down to take a look at her anymore. The Lake has gone to absolute shite. Would not recommend.

The OLOL childrens ED was pretty good. Mom had to take my 9 month old at the time there for what ended up just being nurse maid’s elbow. Wife (no pics) and I were in Nola and get a call from my dad, who’s a doctor, around 7:30 am saying he thinks the baby’s arm might be broken. Fun shite. The resident knew pretty much right away what was wrong when they got there. Less than 2 hours total and no iv or X-ray even done. $100 co-pay.

One of the worst governors in the history of Louisiana, but there are rumors floating around he may run for Cassidy's Senate seat should Possum-eyed Bill get elected governor.

Why would anyone go to OLOL when there's a literally brand new Ochsner Med Center right down the highway ?
