Wait, what did I miss? What guy? Or did it just not state that she was born a male and I didn't catch that part?
Thank you for your biological contribution, if so.
There's a tranny involved in this story? I only read the message from the supervisor that was posted.
Ohhh, I went back and reread the message... it was a lady supervisor.

Showing up to work sick doesn't make you tough or honorable. It makes you an idiot and a boot licker.
It depends. Showing up with the flu to work at a restaurant? Absolutely an idiot.
Calling in sick so you can goof off, especially when other staff are doing that too? An idiot.
Showing up to work even though you have a headache or your back hurts? Neither an idiot nor a boot licker, it's called "being a responsible adult with at least an ounce of pride".

Just remember these people vote for Biden, complain about pay, but never complete a full work week because they are always calling off.
You are basically sticking up for lazy people that would rather live off the taxpayer than work 20/30 days any given month.
I would be willing to bet this manager actually accommodates people needing time off. This seems more like people saying they can work that day then calling the day of their shift to say they aren’t coming in.
So yeah, you seem like the bigger piece of shite here.

This is an unfortunate situation. This manager was probably at her wits end because she has been expected to maintain all of the same corporate responsibilities she had 3 years ago while being grossly understaffed and held to unattainable metrics by a company that is in serious financial trouble. That said, the company must protect themselves. Stupid, low to lower-middle class people are their consumer base. You know who hates their jobs and the assholes they work for more than anyone? Low-lower middle class people.
This manager’s frustration is likely entirely valid but this was a very poor way of dealing with it. People do not respect leaders that say these kinds of things. Always remain calm, courteous, and professional. Work the system. Follow the attendance policy and work the bad actors out. It takes a lot of patience and work. Managing people is hard.

I usually leave some days for the end of the year in case something comes up.
For example LSU making it to the seccg. Really had no way of knowing until the end of the year we make that game. So use some days and take a long weekend.

You are putting far too much faith into the word of an Olive Garden employee

Time to reflect on your life if you are fired for being Olive Garden Mgr
And
Have the emotional intelligence of an employee’s dead pet.

Really surprised she got fired for this.
While it’s not exactly the tone I would have used, in general I don’t have a problem with her message.
Certainly not something she should be fired over, unless there’s more to the story and past history with this manager.
A manager telling his/her employees that they are expected to show up to work is not only normal and expected, but kind of a requirement of the role. That’s part of the managers job: to set expectations for attendance.

I see both sides. The workforce for low paying jobs is terrible and a lot of young people do not want to work. It is frustrating when people constantly miss work. However, employers needs to stop acting like they are doing employees a favor allowing them to work.
Its really one of those deals where there need to be a common ground somewhere in the middle of the two mindsets, but its probably not going to get better anytime soon.
When customer is willing to pay 20% to 30% more for food then businesses can pay workers more bc the govt and other entities have sucked any margin left from us. They forget, it's an entry level job, not a job for life.

I can see the point. It amazes me how half of my coworkers come down with the flu on the Monday morning after the Super Bowl.

Many many Zoomers are extremely lazy and extremely entitled and think TikTok is real life.
They'll vote this country straight into communism.

I don't think he's taking up for lazy people. He's saying that it's ok to take off every once in a while. I've known people to come in when the office was closed and finish up orders and not get paid for it. No one should be proud of that.

The older I get, and I'm 52, the more I understand "the company" will use up everything I give it.
If I am willing to give it seven days a week, the company will take seven days a week.
If I am willing to do the work of three people while we "look for" a replacement, the company will gladly pay me a pittance more than my salary in the "interim".
If I am willing to come to work four days after surgery for a broken leg so a higher-up doesn't have to, then, by all means, park in the handicapped place by the door so you can roll in the wheelchair.
I believe in an honest day's work for an honest day's pay. Lots of companies take advantage of people willing to go beyond that.

When I would find someone somewhat reliable, I got them on salary as quickly as possible (ironically, they could have made MORE as hourly, but they viewed salary as being better)
So, you’re here bitching about how hard it is to find good help, and in the same breath admitting that the first thing you do when you happen to find a good worker is frick them over?
