In fairness to that facility, they also produce chorizo and have an on-site maternity ward.

I'd like to see a study on the tip premium for hottie waitresses.

It won't here in the short term. Good servers get rewarded, shitty ones flame out because they don't make much. Good servers will find other avenues either slack off or find other opportunities to make the money they were making before. Shitty ones will remain since their paycheck is now guaranteed. It will take time for that to no longer be the case. I'm cool with keeping it the way it is now, and most servers probably agree.

They should just give black servers tables with black patrons. Racism problem solved.

Guilty as charged.

And you like the service you receive in other countries? I hear people talk about the professional servers in Europe and how they are all paid a decent/nice salary and thus tipping is not expected. However, I have eaten in enough countries to know that the service level is not as good as you would hope. Dinner takes forever. Drinks are slow to come. The servers are nice and you see more people chip in to help your table, but at a much, much slower pace.

There is so much that goes into this. Not as simple as whites are tipped more. But I like how they'll run with that

I'm very disappointed they did not show the tip discrimination that the transgendered community suffers from because those are numbers you can't ignore.

Everyone should stop eating at God-awful Olive Garden. Problem solved.

It really is terrible food with no redeeming qualities.

How about they flip the script and poll how much Black people tip on average. I’d like to see that.

Yep or what was the rating of service related to amount of tip.

Seems like the person doing the study had an agenda. That is not science.

They should spend a weekend investigating tipping at essence fest.

How do they claim to account for cash tips pocketed and not reported?

Because that would be racist.

This actually poses a very good question.

Perhaps American Slavery was a byproduct, not of racism, but of simply refusing to pay for such poor service.

Have you ever been to a brasserie in France? You literally have to beg someone to wait on you and receive your check at the end. Plan on being at these places for two hours....

The lawsuit also alleges that Darden’s policy gives managers the ability to influence servers’ wages because they can assign servers to shifts or seating sections that tend to result in lower tips.

Now, what "seating sections" could they possibly be referring to???

Didn't we just have a discussion on this regarding The Blind Tiger in Shreveport.

And I wonder what these factors are

In all honesty, when I get a black server, its usually a career waiter who is at the top of his craft. And he's paid disproportionately well for it.

Same experience here.

Not to stereotype, BUT.... the vast, vast, vast majority of the black waiters I've had in my lifetime have been AWESOME. I've almost come to expect awesome service from black waiters. And, I make sure to give them a very healthy tip that reflects their awesome service.

Couldn't possibly be that their tips reflect the quality of the service they're providing? One race has to earn more than the other as a whole....that's just how statistics work. I'm sure on an individual basis there are several blacks earning more than whites. So sure let's pool tips together and see what happens when you remove the incentive from the good employees to work hard...socialism.

How much worse was their service? What areas were they working in? Were they serving honkys or POCs?
